Batman Begins Batman Begins, the greatest superhero origin story in the history of fiction...

I like how you wrote "greatest superhero origin story in the history of fiction" haha. There's an option for a superhero origin outside of fiction!?? :)

Still a great film to this day and a shame that The Dark Knight kind of blew it out of the water. It's interesting in that it's not even a huge box office hit. After all the costs like production, promotion, ticket revenue to the theaters it made like $80 million to WB. Nonetheless, the amount it made was a comfortable level for WB AND it got great reviews unlike the Batman & Robin.

Unfortunately, I never saw it in theatres. Around this time I had just graduated high school so I was more caught up with that experience in my life. The internet was there but in today's capacity plus they were so secretive about it. I remember just hearing Ra's al-Ghul and Scarecrow where in it. Which honestly, turned me off. I love Ra's and always wanted to see Scarecrow but I felt "he you're doing a Batman reboot and not using Joker, I dunno, this may not be safe." I would not see the movie until October, it's home release when my brother did this thing called "renting movies at Blockbuster."

I fell in love with it instantly and bought the film quickly afterwards, watching it numerous times. It surprised me to see my favorite actor Liam Neeson and then to find out holy crap he's playing my favorite villain. Morgan Freeman is in this! Gary Oldman! Wait, ninjas? Batman is a ninja? WELL OF COURSE! I love the Tumbler chase scene and the music accompanying it. Alfred's not an idiot. It had sparked my interest in Batman AND comics again. Since then I've been getting comics as birthday and Christmas gifts. Then I would go on to see the later installments in theaters. The film even began to develop a worldly view for me as I really bought into what Ra's had to say and offer, hell I still do.

I think it's a testament to both BB and the legacy of the trilogy overall that the movie has not been forgotten and is getting its due tribute on its 10th anniversary today. The other movies may have been more popular at the box office, but I think by this point Begins has mostly reclaimed its rightful place in cinema and superhero history, and is viewed as an equally important entry of one large body of work.

Cheers, Batman Begins.

In some ways it's the most influential of the trilogy (since the sequels are a different beast altogether, even more ambitious). Batman Begins is still the template that most directors look to when they want to tell a great origin story on the big screen.

I honestly can't believe this film is TEN years old. :csad:

I remember back in 2003/2004, I was so hungry for a BATMAN movie, that I just couldn't wait for this. Spider-Man, Hulk and X-Men were all having big success and lavish promotional campaigns, but not my favorite character. I wasn't born when Batman '89 came out and was too young at the ages of 2 and 5 to really remember the hype for Batman Returns and Batman Forever.

I liked Batman & Robin at seven years of age, but entering my teens, I was beginning to see what people were saying about it and longed for something similar to Batman: The Animated Series up on the big screen.

While I didn't quite get that, Nolan still delivered the goods and produced a sweeping, yet intimate origin tale for this pop-culture icon. The multiple villians thing finally worked a treat, the characters were entirely engaging and Bale was arguably at his very best. A tremendous supporting cast only elevated proceedings.

Forget comic book/superhero movies... this is just a great film, period!

Heres to Batman Begins!

A great film indeed. It's the first thing I thought when the credits rolled after the first time I saw it in 2007 (man I'd love to have seen this on the big screen). It went beyond just being a great Batman film.

Batman Begins is my favorite of the Batman movies.

I think Man of Steel is the best superhero origin movie, but BB was pretty good too :D

I can't believe how fast a decade has gone! Honestly the hype for me was huge - even though obviously the next two films had bigger marketing this was the one I was praying would reinvigorate Batman and it did and then some.

I enjoyed Man of Steel very much...but Batman bias and the "dark" visuals put it above the rest...

Many scenes are very affecting.....

Not to turn this into a MOS bashing thread (i still like the movie), but every time i watch it, it makes me love Begins even more. MOS feels like a pale imitation at times without much originality or heart, even when it tries to have heart. A couple of scenes have warmth, but most of the time it leaves me feeling colder than the darker Batman Begins.

Not just the best superhero origin movie, but the best superhero movie overall IMHO.

I watched this again yesterday, and I'm always amazed at Bale's acting. Joe Chill's parole hearing was a showcase of how to act without dialogue. Bale was able to convey an agonized spirit and homicidal anger with nothing but facial expressions and body language. He was simply outstanding.

Gotta disagree. I found MOS had plenty of heart. Batman Begins is also an excellent film though and for me by far the best of the trilogy. I did prefer MOS to BB but they're both great first films.

That's a great scene. I should rewatch this on Bluray soon again. In many ways Batman Begins is my favorite comicbook/superhero-movie of all time.

Definitely the best of the trilogy

Definitely the greatest superhero origin movie by far. Only other ones that rival it are Donner's Superman, Raimi's Spider-Man, and Iron Man.

You know... in years to come, after the whole hype and allure of Bat-Fleck and cinematic universes wears off somewhat, people will look back on this film and regard it's simplicity and elegance as something to strive for once again.

I'd out it up there for sure, Superman the Movie is still the best to me. I'm gonna have to watch Raimi's Spider-Man again, it's been years since I last watched that. It's actually funny to me how Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy kind of mirrors Nolan's Batman trilogy. First one was always my favourite, the second one was a better movie though (in terms of quality wise) and the third was a mixed bag (although Rises is far better than SM3 but even SM3 had some redeeming qualities).

Hopefully. Nothing against the current cinematic universes trend, as I am really enjoying them on the whole, but it would be nice to get back to this type of franchise, too.
