Hey everyone.
I was recently board and came back, yet again, to my life long dream of creating a live action Batman TV show... What, I can dream can't I?
Anyway, my ideas for distinctive interpretations of the beloved characters has been knocking around my head for to long and I just had to get them out there. I've tried to create very comic book accurate, recognizable, versions while taking them very seriously. So the style of the Burton, the realism of the Nolan, and the tone of the comics.
So, without further ado here's some of my photoshops for Batman.
The Joker:
This Joker is a mix between the Long Halloween and Arkham: A Serous Place on Serious Earth versions. I visually wanted to emphasis the grotesqueness of the chemical scaring, like his face has been stretched into this long smile. I also opted for a darker suit to emphasize the dark side of Joker, while still keeping purple elements (this Joker is almost bipolar in his fun and murderous sides.)
Mister Freeze:
This was mostly based on the TAS version of the character, with some inspiration from the Ark ham City look. I wanted to make the suit more clunky than some of his stream-lined comic cousins, because I think it emphasizes the handicap that the suit is for Freeze. Plus he works best as a modestly slow moving tank like character, as he is one of the few villains that has some superhuman abilities. Also, that's a real cryogenics lab he's in.
Scarecrow:
This was mostly based my own ideas, but borrows some from the Arkham games. When I was sketching one day I had an idea to give Scarecrow this WWI style gas mask, so he could protect himself from his own gas. This idea was hinted on in the Arkham games, but I took to new approach to it. I envisioned Dr. Crane as getting ready to cover his gas-masked face with a standard bank robbers mask when he sees a burlap sack and, in a last minute decision, decides to fashion a mask and call himself the Scarecrow. A more practical approach, if you will.
The Penguin:
Okay, so this one didn't turn out so well... I may do another one later, but for now this'll have to do. He has the face of George Costanza (who I always thought looked like The Penguin) and his usual tuxedo. Dropping the top hat and replacing the cigarette holder with a cigar made him feel more modern and he ended up getting put in front of the docks, one of his territories.
Hope you guys enjoy this, give me some feedback and tell me who I should do next.
