Batman Forever: Dark Knight Edition

Batman Forever is better than Batman Returns so your theory is clearly wrong.

In Campville, maybe. Whereas Retirns had a great Catwoman and an improved Penguin, Forever has a ultra-campy Riddler and a clown they insist in calling Two Face.

Giant rubber ducks and rocket penguins are not very menacing and darkness and camp aren't opposites.

The duck was not rubber. And penguins with missiles are dangerous.

But Two Face doing nothing but cackle and grunt is a joke. Far worse than the comic book Two GFace. Penguin being a deformed monster was more menacing than the comic book version.

Returns improved whereas Forever worsened.

Improved Penguin? Don't think so. Campy Riddler and a clown Two-Face? Absolutely, you're right.

No. It was far darker and the villains far better and more menacing than dumb and dumber in Batman Forever.
You can have a darker visual and be just as campy. I like parts of both Returns and Forever, but I feel Forever is the better representation of Bruce Wayne (especially with the deleted scenes) and the heroics of Batman, even if Kilmer was directed to be a lighter Batman.

Batman Forever honored a certain era of the comics. 40s, 50s. While paying homage to the West series with Robin and Riddler. Batman Returns had nothing to do with the source material. It was all about Tim Burton's fantasy. Nightmare Before Christmas/Edward Scissorhands with a few characters from the Batman mythology dropped directly in the center.

The only thing that makes Returns better in certain areas are Elfman's score, the batmobile design and Pfeiffer's performance. I think Forever is better in every other way and it's not even a good movie.

But ill never forgive them for butchering Two-Face.

Oh yes. Not just a regular gangster that's chubby and has an umbrella.

Well, that's something common since Forever did talk about Bruce's traumas and Returns didn't. But Kilmer's wooden acting didn't favor the effort.

Well, you can honor the TV show and the 50's and be just as bad as if you didn't. Faithfulness doesn't define the quality, although it is always recommendable to read the source first.

Returns was loosely based on the comics, but was still the better movie. It got the villains in a dark tone, improved one and made the other very good. With Forever you had the comedy aspect fpo one and the total opposite of the other.

Retuns also had the better love interest (hell, one of the best in the whole genre) and the better villains (because no matter how funny Jim carrey was or how much this Riddler was based on comics, as a villain it wasn't memorable in any aspect).

Hewll, Forever had Batman actually nervous and girly around Chase Meridian, who was but a empty-headed bimbo.

But ill never forgive them for butchering Two-Face.

Me neither.

Turning Penguin into a flipper mutant, spitting bile, in a baby grow, riding around in a duck pedalo using rocket penguins as his main threat is not an improvement over the original.

The original was but a chubby man with an umbrella. Man-monster with the same evil and motivations sounds immediately more interesting.
