Batman: Gotham by Gaslight DC Animated movie

While I am sick and tired of Batman dtvs, at least this one looks interesting and good.

I'm excited about it, still one of my favorite Batman stories (helps being a Mignola fan to boot). Plan on getting the Blu-Ray or UHD day one...depending on pricing.

Definitely. Have you read his Legends of the Dark Knight story Sanctum? It's partly set in late 1800s Gotham and has a very similar feel. It's available in the tpb Batman: Dark Legends.

I have the individual issue but have yet to read it, I didn't know about the setting though. I definitely need to read it, my backlog is nuts. I buy more than I read/watch/play as I have so little time to do so these days...

Hope you enjoy! (it's... unusual)

I liked Bruce Greenwood in Under the Hood and Young Justice, but he just sounds a little bored here. Jennifer as Catwoman sounds, good.

And the animation style feels a bit..'cartoony' for lack of a better word. Not really digging the 'open eyed' look.

I’m looking forward to this, even though I think the animation is a bit of a let down. I’m a little tired of Batman centric animated films, unless they want to continue adapting elseworld stories. I’d love to see a Thrillkillers film.

Not nearly as bored sounding as Conroy has sounded for the past few years

Conroy can't be faulted. The material he's been given in recent years has been uninspiring to say the least.

When given good stuff, he always steps up to the plate.

Sorry for the double posting, but every time I try to edit the other post and copy and paste this quote onto it, it won't friggin' do it for me.

Then why does his reading of Bale's monologue at the end of TDK sound completely flat ?

His monologues with the Joker where he tries to reach out and help him in the recent TKJ movie were very flat, too. Although the TKJ movie was overall weak, Hamill was his usual brilliant self. Conroy sounded bored all the way through. Even in the good Batman moments with the Joker.

Both Conroy and Hamill have been pretty out of it in as far as maintaining the more serious stuff; Conroy underacts and Hamill overacts.
That's why they're perfectly serviceable-fine in the current JL show.

A number of reasons... primarily the fact that you are so used to Bale's version that it's jarring to hear something different.

Plus, he was on a podcast. It's not like he dug deep wanting to deliver an annie winning performance.

How is this movie rated R for "some violence"?

This is the first one I've actually looked forward to for a while.

And I like current Greenwood better than current Conroy.
