Batman WILL be in the Justice League of America Movie!
Written by Robert Sanchez

There has been a ton of speculation in regards to the recently announced Justice League of America movie including rumors that Batman would be a no show, let’s clear this up fast, he will be in JLA... guaranteed!

Online reports early this month caused headaches for Warner Bros. when it was assumed that the Superman sequel would be put on hold in favor of a Justice League movie. That was quickly proven to be total bull**** by a variety of sources including members of the Singer camp.

The other rumor that surfaced said Batman would not be in the JLA film and quote "he’s too big to waste on a film like this, apparently."

Rumors are funny. Sometimes they get completely out of control. Clint over at Moviehole was very clear that these were rumors but, of course, forums and fanboys everywhere started taking this one sentence as fact and the truth is, it’s total BS.

One of my studio insiders and close pal sent me this email after the story started making the rounds:

Sup brother! I ain’t a fan of SUPERMAN RETURNS and hope we don’t see Routh in the role again unless it is in a JLA movie, but I can tell you one thing: BATMAN is 100 percent going to be in the JLA movie they're developing at Warner Brothers. So I wonder/question how reliable that other web-site's sources are... Naturally, you and I never had this conversation!

How much do I believe my source? 110%, you can take this to the bank. The big question is will the movie ever get made? That is the 100 million dollar question and most of our insiders are split down the middle with some believing that this movie is D.C.'s time to prove that they can have an ensemble pic just like Marvel has their X-Men but the other half believe that the price tag would be astronomical.

It’s important to remember that during the Batman Begins roundtables at WonderCon in 2005, Christian Bale told us that he had a clause in his contract that one of the three films he was signed on to do could in fact be an ensemble picture. Now, at the time, everyone was thinking Batman vs. Superman (please excuse the old school iesb) but it could just as easily be something like Justice League.

I, for one, believe that if given to the right director, cough, cough, Zack Snyder cough, cough, this could be greatest movie since Empire Strikes Back. Could it happen? Only time will tell.

I'm not sure what Nolan's plans are for Batman after TDK. If he's only doing 3 movies, I hope this project doesn't interfere with that.

Well... I don't know if this movie will even work in the first place. Its a given that Bale and Nolan will finish the trilogy no later than 2011... I can't expect a JLA movie to be made sooner or before that... we know Supes is definetely getting another solo sequel in 2009... whether it tanks or not who knows... I think there is still potential for a Supes franchise but there is by no means a guarantee that he will get a solo third installment... Singer therefore has to wrap up most of the storylines from Superman Returns in the sequel. If the movie is a hit expect an additional third installement... but the case is still out. YOu can do a Flash, Green Latern, Aquaman, Wonderwoman movie in between now and 2011... but most heroes in the JLA should have a solo first so it won't get outta hand. Instead of making a third installment to Singers Superman series I'd like them to do a Batman/Superman film in 2012 instead of a third Superman solo. You can use Luthor and a Joker or Ras combo. A World's finest flick could lead into a JLA movie slated for 2014/2015. I just think it would be awkward cramming a movie with a montsrosity of random heroes without fully establishing all of them and having a story connecting everything.

No, I don't want to see a JLA movie. And I don't want to see a Batman / Superman crossover. I want them to have their own movies. No crossovers...

Oh crap does mean no Nolan Batman 3? I rather see Batman movie reather than JLA movie.

At some point you run out of potential... Batman the most popular hero is not exactly a mega blockbuster... just made 200 million. Even with classic villains appearing in the upcoming sequels... I doubt the franchise will ever be a Spiderman type. You cant just make Batman movies about Robin and B villains anymore cause it won't make as much money... and with the Superman sequel they had better come out with something new already. There are still many villains we haven't seen but that too has exhausted most of its potential... aquamans and Wonderwomans are nothing more than Hell boys and Dare Devils... yeah they got more potential but you just can't make a killing... at some point you need to gamble... crossovers are good excuses to keep things fresh and interesting... don't say it only works in the comics... just say it hasn't been attempted yet... comic book movies have only really picked up this century so there hasn't been enough time to explore it. Cross overs do have potential though... won't you want to know what happens if you put Bale, ROuth, and Spacey in a movie together... I sure as hell want to know... but a JLA movie is just too big a step for me to start... a Batman/Superman film is a nice first step for me personally... if it bombs WB wouldn't waste another dime with a JLA

Two Face: Oh crap does mean no Nolan Batman 3? I rather see Batman movie reather than JLA movie.

Never will happen... no worries

Batman WILL be ruined by being in this movie.

This film isn't going to happen, so I'm not worried. There's just no way they can get this one to work.

Part of me makes me think that any loose ends after TDK and after the SR sequel could be tied up in this JLA movie. I know it may sound stupid but this is WB we are talking about, I wouldn't put it past them. I really hope we get at least 3 Nolan Batman films and even though I have my problems with Superman Returns I would like to see a trilogy of Singer Superman films as well. Then I am game for a JLA movie or a World's Finest movie. I would even like to see a Wonder Woman movie made before this JLA movie but that's wishful thinking. But please WB don't F with the current Batman and Superman trilogies! Let the series breathe!!

Can not be done... but I agree with the rest... Superman should get his trilogy as well as long as Singer doesn't F*** up The Man of Steel... no doubt we will see Wonderwoman or a Flash flick before 2011 though

I'd love to see a JLA movie with Batman in it. He'd be a total dick to all the other members.

I would rather watch some colored clothes rotating in a washing machine.

Funny I see this after watching a fan-made trailer of a possible JLA movie.

This is really annoying!!! I hate JLA it's such trash. Superhero's should not put in the same movies. Even in comics I always hated mixing superheroes up, they should be from completely different universe and should never collide.

Someone should start a petition to stop this!!! Or at least to get Batman (cause lets face it, he is the best) the hell out of it.

TRasH?!
i remember falling in love with comic books when i saw the interactions between batman and superman, as clark and bruce...two heroes with the same purpouse, helping others but with two different ways of handle it and especially two different ways of seeing the world.
when it comes to a justice league movie..well if well done..could be amazing..

and as for batman not fitting in....

I see your point. It could be a very good movie if done right. And I don't doubt some of the great comics done. Though I was only ever really big into Batman, and I disliked how mixing all these other characters in some how downgraded the reality I like in Batmans story and character.

If they "have" to do a JLA movie I would kind of like if they recast batman, leaving out Bale, just to separate it from Nolans work.

Oh god, a JL movie would be the ultimate re-death of Batman. Nothing is cornier than a bunch of guys in super-outfits joining forces. I hope Bale can stay far away if they end up making it.

I dunno......I'm as big a Bat fan as all of you.....but it's never seemed to make sense having Batman in the League. Him being in there is on his popularity, alone. Makes sense he should be in the film version too.

But, the real question is.....what's this mean for Nolanverse and Bale?

And....if Bats is in...surely Supes will be too.

Am I the only one who's excited about this? Why would anybody on a superhero message board believe that it's "corny" to have a bunch of superheroes team up? There're LOTS of things WAY cornier than that. Like half the $h^t that comes out of Spider-Man's mouth during a fight. Why wouldn't anyone be excited about this movie? If it's done right, it could be the best f%&kin' thing to happen to comic books.

Is Wonder Woman going to be in the JLA movie?

as of now, nolans batman doesnt fit in the league. he would only be there for funding. The main reason batman was a part of the league was for his detective skills and his war like strategies. Lets be honest here, nolans batman is not exactly a detective. Maybe he will grow into one later, but thus far he has been using lucius fox for everything that requires a brain. Personally I dont see that changing much because nolan is really into making batman similar to bond, and he basically made lucius into a form of Q. If Batman does some detective work in TDK then Ill revisit the subject.

...well i have to admit, this is a VERY good point...

Nolan’s "realism" can be succinctly stated as an attempt to place an extraordinary character into our known reality. In our reality there are no meta-humans: physics defying aliens, immortal princesses, and faster-than-light speedsters exist only in a fantasy realm. Batman may be an improbability in our world but unlike these other fantasy characters he is not an impossibility.

Batman in a Superman world—don’t care. Batman in a JLA movie—don’t care. The “DC Universe” is an Elseworld in my mind—do what you want with it. The Batman I am interested in exists in an authentic human world. But put Superman or JLA or indeed any hint of that meta-world in a Batman movie—especially one like Nolan’s that is meant to take place in our reality—then I care. And the extent to which the fantastical manifests itself in Batman’s world correlates directly with my lack of interest in it.

I agree... but I expect TDK to be a much better film than Begins and I believe that Nolan—at the risk of giving him too much credit—will correct the gross neglect of Wayne’s intellect and detective abilities in this next film.

Because most of them are still suffering shellshock from such camp bastardizations like Batman & Robin. They now fear anything "outlandish" and otherworldly, even if it's pulled directly from the comics and has the potential to be amazing and fun (unless it's ultra-violent, i.e. Sin City or 300, then the more over-the-top the better).

In their fear, they push themselves to the complete opposite extreme, demanding strict, bland realism. "Keep it small" is the new mantra. Some even go so far as to impose these restrictions onto a director (Nolan) - twisting his words and his vision into something mundane, when he has the ability (and intentions, mark my words) of ultimately delivering something enormous and outstanding (they take the world of Begins, or at least 90% of it, and extrapolate it to the remainder of the series, completely disregarding the literally and symbolic turn that the film universe took at the end of the film - a downward spiral from the 'real world' to the Batman world of freaks.)

And the extent to which the fantastical manifests itself in Batman’s world correlates directly with my lack of interest in it.

The amount of Batman adventures you enjoy must be quite limited.
