Our friends at IESB are reporting that a screenplay for the proposed Justice League of America movie is finished, and has been warmly received at Warner Bros. I always believed that the film wouldn’t happen until the Superman and Batman franchises started to die down.

My theory being: why waste two superheros in one movie when you could make double the money with two films. Well it seems like I, like most others might have overlooked the benefit of such a film. Apparently the studio is envisioning the film as a lunching pad for other superhero offshoot films such as The Flash, Wonder Woman, The Green Lantern and Aquaman. And the film is suposedly being fast tracked into production.

But what about Superman and Batman? Both Christian Bale and Brandon Routh have contract stipulations which include an option for a third “ensemble” movie. And I don’t believe that a JLA film could be done without both of the leading DC superheroes included. And I don’t that Christopher Nolan would give up on a third Batman film to lend Bale over for JLA. And what about Bryan Singer’s The Man of Steel? Singer’s camp has insisted that Man of Steel will be filmed next. Could that be pushed back to accommodate a JLA film? Maybe?
There are so many ifs, buts, and maybes, that I just don’t see how this film can happen anytime soon. But IESB insists that Justice League of America will start shooting in early 2008 with George Miller directing. We’ll just have to wait and see.

I'm stilll not sure how they can make this work. It seems like WB is in a big hurry. If they have in mind a big Lord of the Rings type production- maybe it could work . Aside from x-men we haven't seen a team movie. X-men was scaled down so if they go all out on this the budget is going to be astronomical. Even single hero movies cost in the 150 million dollar range. Superman returns 250+ million when all was said and done. Bale being in the movie seems outlandish....too bizarre. Of course I'm there if it happens! I hope they get the right people involved. maybe even get alex ross and jim krueger in there.

Yeah another interesting thing about Singer's contract is, they have to pay him even if they DON'T make the movie by optioning his contract before it expires -- basically are they willing to pay Singer 10 million dollars to do NOTHING!?

JLA wont happen in 2008 so i dont understand this title at all.

its like i would open ''a talking horse in TDK'' ....and it would make more sense.

Bale would not sign on to this, I hope Routh does return however, as i hear that his sequel may not happen.

2008?

NEXT year? Why is that in the title of this thread?

i don't believe a 2008 release

i am a 50/50 on bale in it

what would they have to defend the world from?

I would rather a batman superman movie

I don't think that Bale would be interested in signing either. After the collosal pile of Singer **** Supermen Returns was I find it hard to believe this will be done right. Esp. if they want to pump it out for next year.

i couldn't really see bale signing on ethier
batman was never really a team player i say let him fly solo
as tdk will make more money than a justic league movie

Its apparently scheduled for a 2009 release. What they are saying is that production is apparently scheduled for a 2008 start.

So if this happens, it looks as thought the SR sequel could be pushed back or completely scrapped. If its the latter WB is going to have to give Singer a big fat cheque.

I'd rather have MOS first. And then maybe sometime later a JL Movie. And if they do, they better take some cues from the cartoon.

why not bring other members into there own franchises
flash, wonder woman
that's why Marvel is kickin Dc's ass at the box office

From what I've heard, I think Bale would sign on to a JLA movie in principal, but I dont think he'd sign on to the one they'd probably end up making. At least, I hope Bale would refuse to be part of the crap they seem to be on their way to producing.

I would absolutley love a JLA film if they did it right, and I've even begun to accept the idea of doing it before 2nd tier characters get solo films, but I'm so worried they're gonna screw it up. Rumors about rewriting Superman and Batman's characters, and possibly recasting, to the idea of using the OMAC storyline, it sounds terrible. And John Stewart over Hal Jordan?! Not again!!!

Batman and Superman should stay the way they are. Maybe written a few years older so that it seems both have been in the business for a while and we'll have Batman with all of his toys and vehicles he doesn't have in his own Movie continuity yet.

And then take some ideas from the cartoon. 7 individuals meeting and working together for the first time against an Alien threat. Come on, it doesn't get much easier than this.

Maybe Sandy Colora will do it (sarcasm).

I'm pretty certain that if they do this, it will have nothing to do with the Batman or Superman franchises.

Regardless of what is being rumored, I still think SR2's gonna come out. Routh couldn't command an entire Justice League

Why not? Maybe if he's written as a badass instead of a stalking wuss he might be able to.

That picture on the first post, that's Alex Ross work yeah?

Yup. You can tell by the transvestite-looking Black Canary (I think) and Wonder Woman).:woot:

I wish I could argue with that............But I bet Tom Welling could!

I wouldn't say that. He wasn't given much to work with in the first Superman film, Singer knew this, yet he failed to act. Now, in the time of need, Singer will kick all royal assness!

I don't thin Singer will let him go...

But also, I don't think he commands the presence that Supes would need to for a JLA film. And his neck's too small.

Bear in mind I am a huge SR fan and would love to see a sequel, but I'd rather see Bats and Supes played by somebody else in the JLA movie, especially if it'll get out faster.
