The Dark Knight's Batmobile in a Heap of Trouble?

Exclusive: In lieu of the recent news that a fire broke out the set of Warner Bros. The Dark Knight (more details here), we found the following news a little ironic (don't ya' think?)...

Our Chicago stringer has been hanging out pretty close to the production of the latest Batman movie, which will feature The Joker and Harvey Dent (Two-Face) as the villains, and discovered something pretty damn cool... spoilers follow... next week they're blowing up the Batmobile!

We don't have any details (yet) on what's going to cause the explosion in the film, but expect some pictures from the shoot on FreezeDriedMovies in the next few weeks. More news as it comes in.

Last week a fire broke out on the roof of Chicago's vacant former post office that was said to have started in the ventilation system. Whilst there was no injuries, it was unclear if the fire was related to the filming. Crews had been filming there all week so office worker Pete Kearney says of the smoke seen on Tuesday morning - "We assumed it was part of the movie."

As Beavis would say... "FIRE!"

Damn, Miranda you kick serious ass at this, your “bat-sense” does it again. I am excited about this. I love the tumbler batmobile but I really love the idea of Batman getting owned by Joker (at first anyway)

I want it to be his greatest challenge. It is the motivation for him to evolve, improve and become the Bat we know and love. I really dig this evolution starting in BB and moving forward.

I wonder however, will it be quickly replaced, repaired, or will we get a new temporary mode of transportation. So many possibilities!

Now I’m all excited, need my meds…

It fits the sort of theme I feel they are going for - sort of like an old parable where the hero comes up against a test he could never foresee and eventually overcomes it through his own intelligence and skill.

Well, I'll certainly dump some of my 40 oz. out in memory of the Tumbler, but this could come off as a pretty cool sequence.

Somewhat related: Anybody heard anything else about the motorcycle rumor that was kicking around a while back? I think if the Tumbler goes down we'll definitely see some other Bat-transportation.

Heh, yes. When does blind_fury get here? (I'm kidding, dude.)

I always suspected it would eventually become the Batmobile but that the Tumbler would be tweaked over time. This is more dramatic than I expected, but I'm not going to complain.

Perhaps Nolan is really listening to fans after all...he certainly seems to be making efforts to improve things, like the suit. But he probably planned to do that anyway.
