Correction on the report from freezedried. They are blowing up the Tumbler which leads to what I always suspected: The Tumbler is the prototype to the actually Batmobile.

With the tumbler destroyed, Bruce will have to commission Fox to build him a new vehicle. This time will modification specific to his "war on crime" and factoring in his Bat motif.

I always suspected it would eventually become the Batmobile but that the Tumbler would be tweaked over time. This is more dramatic than I expected, but I'm not going to complain.

Perhaps Nolan is really listening to fans after all...he certainly seems to be making efforts to improve things, like the suit. But he probably planned to do that anyway.

I liked the Tumbler, damn to some fans!t: He'll get better transport! cos I'm not too happy about this.

It was suppose to be blown up in the original, that's how it was going to take down the monorail but Nolan loved the vehicle so much he rewrote the ending so it could return in the sequel

i for one think a bat cycle would kick ass if filmed well. i also think it's a legit possibility while fox is building a new mobile (which might debut at the end of this film).

there's no firm reason to think the tumbler's destruction would give way to the batmobile. it might give way to another tumber.

I think the fact that the Batmobile is aniconic part of the Batman mythos would be that firm reason.

In time, as Batman's legend grows in Gotham, whatever he drives will come to be known as the Batmobile, so the new and improved Tumbler will essentially be known as the Batmobile (Especially when there are noticable batfins on it. t: )
