The Dark Knight Batmobile To Go BOOM!?

Recently I had to the opportunity to view a scene from The Dark Knight, but without the audio track, i wont say where security is very tight where i work, but it did hold some interesting spoiler material in regards to the Batmobile/bat-pod.

do not read if you dont want to get spoiled.

The sequences that they was being worked on at that time was the batmobile to bat-pod tranformation.
I dont know if this is old new or what.

Many believe that the batman builds the bat-pod from the wreakage of the batmobile, this is in fact untrue, the bat-pod is born though a much more dramatic event.

Here’s what I saw, a high speed chase, involving the joker and he is chasing a heavily swat protected Harvey Dent through the streets of gotham, with intentions to kill him, the batman is chasing down the joker (to prevent the killing) in the batmobile (tumbler).
The joker launches a rocket (al la the 1st trailer) at the vehicle that contains Harvey Dent, the batman manages to jump the batmobile (as we learnt from the first film the tumbler can indeed jump) into the incoming missile and it takes the full force of the explosion. Leaving the batmobile heavily damaged and unable to operated, taking batman out of the chase, quick cut to the batman he flicks a couple of switches in the batmobile, panels start to drop and within the batmobile the bat-pod emerges and accelerates out of the damaged batmobile, basically the bat-pod is almost like a emergency escape vehicle.
The batman is now back in the chase between the joker and Harvey dent, but to catch up he has have to use drastic measures, like blowing up stationary cars that are in his way, taking short cuts through back allies,
there is also time for a comedic moment, two kids are playing "cops & robbers" or something, it was hard to tell since there was no audio, basically they are pretending to shoot guns, using there fingers, anyway one of the kids points his finger at a car and pretends to shot it, it blows up, the kid looks at his finger, the bat-pod blasts past them.

Anyway I hope this helps answer some questions. I Apologise for the spelling errors, I’m kinda pushed for time at the moment.

You can do whatever you like with this information. call it false call it true, i know it to be true cos i've seen it.

Peace
TheQuietKnight.

Maybe, sounds too much like Batman Returns though the whole bat missile thing. I do remember when Bale is driving the Tumbler, in the 'attack position', he seemed to shift his weight from side to side like a motorcyclist so yeah maybe.

The only thing i'd say to that^^^ is that looking at the Tumbler and the Batpod... i can't see how it works, How the batpod sits in the tumbler if the seat is in the cockpit with BOTH wheels part of the front steering set up. How does the rear wheel end up at the back of the pod...

Gah... Least we know they've still got Tumblers around

Damn The Batmobile went out with a Huge Bang .

R.I.P. Tumbler you'll be greatly missed .

I want that! and there is also a bat pod in the same scale as that (all 1/6th scale!) wait a minute the 1/6 scale batman figure is 12" tall that 'Tumbler' has to be freaking huge! :wow:

i knew about the Tumbler getting destroyed for months, but it didnt lessen the shock of see her go down in a blaze of glory.

i will miss the Tumbler. but the birth of the Batpod was sweet :)

personally

i hate the "trend" where everytime BatMan gets a new Batmobile in the movies, it gets destroyed later on. i freakin' hate that.

It was impressive how the Tumbler destroyed itself when the Batpod emerged!!

You know, I don't think that any of the previous Batmobiles were destroyed at all, at least I don't remember. Not one. Only the Batplane and the Batboat or whatever that was called in Forever.

This is a first for Batman on film.

And people cheered when the Batpod emerged out of the destroyed Tumbler.

the batmobile was destroyed in returns and forever

Sad to see the tumbler go. :csad: It was my second favorite Batmobile right behind Burton's. One of my favorite parts of the Batman Begins game was controlling the tumber.

I don't know if anyone has talked about this but does anyone now think Wayne will soupe(sp) up one of his Lamborghinis to become the new Batmobile or at least make the next one more sporty?

I would imagine the next movie would be just the batpod

I suspect a sub/plane in B3. I'm sure Fox can put together another Tumbler.

The Tumbler going up in flames doesn't necessarily mean it won't appear in Batman 3...

Didn't Lucius expain in 'Begins' that the Tumbler was originally designed to create bridges by letting two of them jump over a gap?

TWO OF THEM!

"Always two there are"

:)

We need a stylized Tumbler in 3. An armored version of the Lambourghini perhaps?
