Battlefield 3

I would agree Craigdbfan, I think the aesthetic is much more appealing than the COD games. COD seems way too 'hollywood' gritty for it's own good, whereas Battlefield is the harsh, bright lighting of real, modern combat in the middle east. Like the difference between Hurt Locker or Generation Kill (Battlefield) and Tranfsformers (COD)

That's a really good way of putting it.

Also, knife as a seperate weapon, that's pretty cool. I actually prefer that to the kinda slow reaction of the knife button in BFBC 2

I love that too. It's so CounterStrike inspired and I love that fact.

Actually, I thought of a better example... COD games to me just look like Terminator Salvation... It's all gritty, and grim and ashy to try and feel real, but it just comes off feeling like synthetic realism.

Yeah, I really enjoyed the ballistic knife in Black Ops, not for the knife shooting aspect, but I liked the idea of making a conscious decision to use melee for stealth, rather than having it simply as a knee jerk freak out reaction when a guy turns a corner on you.

Ambient occlusion is the obvious main visual diffrence.

Dice seem good at using intense light without making every look baked in a radioactive glow. Saying that though, from the first person perspective, it looks almost interchangeable. Also it would be nice to play a full game (rather than diffrent perspectives) as someone other than a American or American sounding. The best parts of Call Of Duty are basically when you are not American.

Not enough explosions. I'd stick with the Michael Bay's Transformers comparison.

Honestly if a COD movie is ever made. Michael Bay + COD is the obvious choice. If it'll happens who knows.

Still I'm not going to lie, I'd totally watch it. :p

Yeah, the scary difference though is that people enjoy watching Michael Bay films but no one would honestly say they are the 'best films over'.... CoD on the other hand...

@Spock, I agree about the nationality thing with COD, I always enjoyed the SAS portions of the campaign. If they would just make an only SAS, stealth based 4 player co-op campaign COD game, I would buy that in a heart beat.

That said, I don't mind the American soldiers so far in Battlefield because it DOES remind me of something like Hurt Locker or Generation Kill, which is essentially real Soldiers, rather than the Americanised Blockbuster action heroes of a CoD game.

Just found out that there's an option for both. A quick knife with clicking on the analog and the equip. That's neat.

Looks amazing on consoles, and they said it was still a pre-alpha build of it. Yep no MW3 for me. BF3 all the way on the PS3.

Yea the game is looking insane. The only thing I noticed that the PC version is superior on is the level of details on the rifle. Other than that, BF3 is looking to be one of if not the best looking title on consoles.

It's all over, every gaming news site. That console debut was a giant hit!

No one would have such distaste for the pc gamer community if most to all of them were not such snobs. When they are not discussing the boring details of their rigs

When I read crap like this, which is really, just baffling, it makes me rather happy (and even more smug) to be in that demographic.

Whats baffling? YOU are in that category. You act just the way he described.

You'v kinda missed the point. Read the underlined part.
With people such as those in the article, being elite is not very difficult. It's also free.

Hes still right, most of you are snobs. You're the best example.

As for the article, I agree with DICE completely. What idiot would think that a high end PC and a PS3 would be comparable visually. One costs twice as much as the other.

If I could get a PC to run BF3 like what's been shown by DICE for under 400 bux, I'd jump all over it. I couldn't justify spending the kind of money it would cost to make a PC run BF3 like that. It's not worth it.
