Okay, I know that technically this game does not exist (yet), but c'mon... It's high time Lucas Arts ponied up a next-generation installment in the Star Wars Battlefront series. Even though Battlefront 2 was the most successful Star Wars game ever, going back to play it is pretty hard to do after being so spoiled by modern fare like Battlefield Bad Company, and especially Warhawk on the PS3.

Lucas Arts' split with Pandemic is probably the main reason why there has been so little activity regarding the Battlefront franchise, although LA is not unfamiliar with farming it out, which they did for Battlefront Renegade Squadron for PSP. There were rumors a few years ago that the next Battlefront would be commissioned to Timesplitters developer Free Radical, although after the commercial and critical failure of their latest game Haze, coupled with several years of silence surrounding Battlefront 3, it seems highly unlikely that they would be involved.

However, just because Lucas Arts is remaining mum on the subject of Battlefront 3, that doesn't mean we can't discuss it. Personally, my favorite developer to succeed Pandemic would be Incognito, since I absolutely love Warhawk, and I think they could make a better Battlefront 3 than Pandemic themselves. It's not likely that it would happen, but I can always dream...

Id love to see what a dev team could do with the tech behind the ps3/360 in regards to another Battlefront.

I hope there is a third one in the Works i had so much fun with the first two i can't wait till they make a third.

If I'm not mistaken, Pandemic is making a Battlefront-style game based on the Lord of the Rings trilogy. But yeah, the next gen consoles definitely need an ultimate Battlefront game.

I really want another SW Battlefront game. It's still the second most-played original Xbox game on XBL. (Halo 2 being first)

When do you think it will come out i am hoping end of next year Nov 2009.

In development?? Link to where you heard this??

Battlefront was like the Bad Company of Xbox.

This was one of those rare games, to me, that never got old, and I could just keep playing for hours on in.

At least now if they made one, the servers wouldn't be so laggy. I'd love to have another Battlefront.:woot:

Agreed. I played it for PS2 a few months ago. It hasn't aged very well.

I think in the next one. You should be able to customize your player ala Halo 3 & RSV. But instead of one character for the whole game you have one for each group. Empire, Rebels, CIS & Republic.

There's no release date yet.

"According to UK games outlet CVG, the next iteration of the Battlefield inspired, team based shooter with a Star Wars coat of paint will be hitting the Xbox 360, courtesy of TimeSplitters dev house Free Radical. Citing the recently announced partnership with LucasArts and unnamed sources, CVG has no more details other than "it's coming" and that former Battlefronters Pandemic Studios will not be on board for the next sequel."

Also, the manager at EB Games told me they are going to be receiving something soon from LucasArts and/or Microsoft with the official announcement soon.

That article is from two years ago. Back then, Haze was still set to be mutliplatform. It's been 2 years, and we still haven't heard anything about a Lucas Arts / Free Radical collaboration.
