We should be getting quality films for people to judge. Battleship looks anything but.

shouldn't people determine whats quality for themselves

Eh, Battleship is going to be terrible but the bad reviews make me think that it's going to be terrible in a funny way.

I've already seen the film & I think it's alright, it's all about personal taste, if aliens invading Earth, with alot of fancy explosions hasn't pushed your buttons in other similar films then you might as well save your money cause this one isn't gonna do it for you either.

If I were you I wouldn't even go watch it, you seem to already have preconceptions that the film will be bad because you've read some reviews for it & have made their opinion on the film your own without having seen the film.

I personally couldn't go see a film that I expected to be bad, I'd much rather spend my free time doing something I know will either be enjoyable or at least possibly be enjoyable.

Is it pretty jingoistic similar to TF in a way, or no?

I'm personally hoping for a Independence Day vibe from this film. Can it be good in a fun summer blockbuster way? Yes but I doubt I will ever be able to think about this movie without laughing to myself.

I dunno. What made Independence Day good was that you had all these different perspectives from a wide group of effected people. Don't know that you're going to get that same range of views here. Plus, ID had a lot more known actors in it.

I think with Battleship, the whole notion of an alien invasion from the Navy's perspective can be interesting but from the trailers, it comes off as contrived; shoehorning galore!

Boring, unfunny and totally awful. 2/10

It's nothing like Emmerich or Bay. This is just boring. Totally.

Sorry, I couldn't help it - but in the latest clip shown, um "show, don't tell" ring a bell lol? Just either a really bad line or very bad delivery. Thinking bad line.

To those that have seen it does anyone in the movie actually shout/say "You sunk my battleship!" Because if not this a FAIL.

Blacking it out cuz it might be spoilery: [BLACKOUT]No.[/BLACKOUT]

I'll enjoy this if it's anything like Independence Day. I don't care what people say about that movie, it's just tons of fun and perfect Summer movie viewing.

Battleship Crosses Over 100 Million In Foreign Box Office
Peter Berg’s military vs aliens actioner from Universal Pictures made the milestone in its first 10 days of international release. Through this Sunday Battleship‘s first 12-day total should reach $126.7M. The pressure is on for the film to do well in the 50 territories where it’s now open — including China and Russia — because of its advance bad buzz and very expensive budget. (The studio claims the cost was $209M while outside sources say $250M.) Battleship doesn’t open in the U.S./Canada until May 18th because the studio set a strategy to open overseas first. This weekend it debuted in another 24 territories and should gross $56M for the weekend. It was #1 opener in 16 territories this week bringing the film’s total Number One openings overseas to 37 in the last two weeks: – It opened #1 in Russia Thursday with $2.1 million and dominated the box office there with 78% of market share. Friday’s gross is $2.2M with a 2-day total estimate of $4.3M (LC 126.4M) — better than both Thor and Iron Man but also helped by a big theater-building push there.
– In Ukraine, Battleship also opened to #1 and was Universal’s biggest opener in history in that territory.
– In China, Battleship gave Universal its largest opening in history on Wednesday where the film grossed $3M on opening day and has gone on to make $8.2M (LC50M) in three days — more than Fast Five (LC43M).
– Battleship held the #1 spot during Week 2 in Germany, Austria, Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. It had very strong holds in Australia and Japan.
Universal has 14 more territories to open including Israel on May 3, South Africa on May 4, and Latin America starting on May 10.

I just got back from seeing this, and I gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised.
Sure there were plenty of stupid things that really bugged me. I mean they send away a signal to an alien planet hoping for sings of other life, and when they finally get a response they are all like "Oh my god, were doomed!" when they don't even know what the aliens are here for.
The chicken burrito scene was just stupid and I really wanted to punch the blond dude, Ordy or something, man was he stupid. Rihanna was pretty irritating in the beginning but she later came around for me.
Sure there were some flaws with it but I do think that the good outweighed the bad this time, and I also really liked the designs for the aliens.
