Universal Pictures has won a heated bidding war to pick up the rights to the futuristic adventure film “Little America” for Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes to produce.
The story is set in a dystopian future where what’s been described as a “Donald Trump-like U.S. president” has bankrupted America and China has called in its debts. As a result, China now owns America and many Americans have immigrated to China looking for work.
In this new world, a former American Force Recon member is hired by a Chinese billionaire to go into an American ghetto and rescue his daughter. The tone is said to be similar to the John Carpenter classic “Escape From New York” and is dubbed “sci-fun”.
Rowan Athale (“Wasteland”) penned the spec script and is attached to direct while Bay would produce with Andrew Form and Brad Fuller.

This is genius, and from Michael Bay no less.

Flipping the concept of "China Town" ect on it's head.

Very interesting concept, though I suspect it will be kind of like Pacific Rim, a silly action movie that tries to have a social message but it's lost amid the pew-pew and the shbooom. Which is fine, I like movies like that.

So in Americatown, on America New Year do they form a traditional conga line and have a parade down the street?
