Commander Keen was rad. t: Oldschool, by the Doom guys before they created their quasi-3D engine for Wolfenstein/Doom. I think they were trying to get a license from Nintendo to port Mario to the PC around that time, they couldn't so they did their own scroller type game but with shooting elements.

i have no idea which stars could be willing to do so...but i immagine it in a hommage and parody kind of way...like machete whit cameos from famous or known actors...so i hope they get a simple storyline mixed with alot of weird humor, references and alot of crazy over the top stunts....like mars attacks, which had alot of actors in it just doing nonsense...so main focus should be getting people interested and then im sure plenty will show up just having fun

if so than it has to be arnold. he's in kung fury 2 so maybe he's up for more cameos in silly movies like duke nukem. but i'd be ok with dolph of course...let's hope for more development news and casting confirmations soon. i really want this movie to happen. and then they should do metroid

It was announced back in January that Paramount and Platinum Dunes are moving forward on a live-action adaptation of the video game Duke Nukem, with WWE superstar John Cena tapped to play the jacked up, ass kicking title character. Dunes producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form updated Cinema Blend on the project this week.

As of right now, they’re still trying to nail the overall tonal approach.

“We are working on Duke Nukem right now. It’s going to be about tone,” Form told the site. “How do you nail that tone in the way that Deadpool nailed the tone? I think we have to do that and if we don’t get the tone right then we’re not going to make the movie.”

He continued, “You know that having a misogynistic guy in today’s world, how do you make that fun and lovable and at the same time he’s got to be an incredible badass? So those are the things that we’re struggling with and we’re going to try and come out with what I hope is a really fun ride. That’s the goal, is for it to be a really fun ride.”

Form also noted that Cena is their go-to star, but nothing is set in stone without a script.

“Yeah, [John Cena is who] we’re working with now. He is. Yes,” Form confirmed. “We don’t have a script yet, so that is confirmed at this point. But if he reads the script and he doesn’t like the script I’m sure there’s ways that he could pull out. But right now he’s our guy.”

Screen Rant: Video game movies are on the rise again. Tomb Raider is coming out. Duke Nukem is something you’ve been attached to and you look like Duke Nukem.

John Cena: I think that’s the direct attachment and I’m very honored to be attached to that but that is a very fragile franchise. That was one that was very timeline specific, that is 1990s to the hilt. So, once again, it reflects upon story. The story has to come in dead-on balls, man. Like it has to come in told correct, told in a palatable sense for this generation, which you’re walking on eggshells…you can’t not be Duke Nukem, but you can’t make the wrong move…so I’m…what a blessing to be attached to that, a name like that, and I just hope development does the franchise justice.

It's not enough to make the video game movie version of Deadpool. Sure that sounds easy on paper, doesn't mean you will pull it off.

Deadpool IMHO worked because it came at the right place and right time. Video game movies aren't and have never had the moments that comic book or superhero movies have.
