Just played the demo and Bayonetta 2 shot up to number one on my video game hype-o-meter.

Unfortunately this game is going to sell like complete dog ****, and that makes me very sad. As a consequence of that, the sensible thing to do is wait for it to bomb and pick it up on the cheap. Sorry Kamiya. :[

I agree it'll sell poorly, but I won't let that affect my decision to buy day one. Plus, I do want to get the first game packaged in, and I suspect that may be a limited thing.

Polygon gave it a 7.5. Apparently, the game is great, the gameplay is top-notch and must play, but the sexualization of the character made him dock it.

No. Kamiya mentioned that the idea for B2 was actually passed to a few other publishers before Nintendo was the one who took the lead. And they aren't just publishing it, they are funding and handling marketing. It's a very rare situation for a company to do something like that, really. I can't even think of an example of it happening before.

So, either Sega will have to change their mind on doing a sequel, or it's up to Nintendo to do this again and give us B3.

I think this should stay with Nintendo. It'll give them a great, more mature franchise for their consoles. Keep funding it so we have something other than core Nintendo franchises to play. Great thinking on Nintendo's part.

I know. I really do feel bad about it.

I will say this though, what Tron said about Bayo 1 being a limited thing is making me reconsider my decision.

Also this probably won't get a huge shipment, which means it will most likely actually be more expensive to buy rather than cheaper.

Honestly, I'm not expecting Bayonetta 3 to happen. I don't expect this game will sell enough for Nintendo to keep funding it, and if Sega and other publishers passed on a sequel after a modestly successful first title then it strikes me as implausible that they'll be jumping over funding after a lesser selling sequel. I'm really just happy that this game got to exist to begin with; that's what I'm focusing on. And getting an optimized version of the first game as a totally free bonus is just the icing on the cake. I'm just glad that Bayonetta 2 happened, and that I will get to enjoy this fine action title.

Here is what happens in the prologue of Bayonetta 2: Bayonetta goes Christmas shopping with a morbidly obese caricature of Joe Pesci in midtown Manhattan. She asks her best friend Jeanne to go buy caviar for a Christmas party before Jeanne jumps a motorcycle off a building for no reason. Then Bayonetta jumps on top of a royal blue fighter jet, upon which she slaughters a squad of centaur angels before destroying the 59th Street Bridge. Afterward she flies through the city on crow wings so she can catch an Empire State Building-scaling dragon, shoving it back into a hell.

Through a portal made out of her own hair.
