Bayonetta

It's called my opinion, and it's not wrong, cause you know, it's based on my own personal preference.

Quality is not debatable. Play the God of War III demo then go and play the Bayonetta demo, you may have more fun with Bayonetta but God of War III is still the higher quality game.

Well thats good, i mean if you dont think you are right, who will?

Yeah, because that totally matters. If I don't have the backing of critics and journalists, how can I possibly form opinions of my own? You're opinion is obviously right or better since you have those backings to fall back on. :whatever:

Just to be clear, when I said Bayonetta was trash I didn't mean it was bad game. From a technical standpoint it's a perfectly fine. Controls are responsive, graphics are good, gameplay is tight, etc. I just meant that it was completely disposable. To me. The characters, story, setting, dialogue, art style...none of it is my cup of tea.

I would probably put Bayonetta on the same level as Gears of War. Both have fun gameplay but the fiction is just utter nonsense.

Production values, sure, but production value =/= quality. If you base your opinion of quality solely on that, then you miss the point of any entertainment/art

Haha man, im just giving u a hard time. Nothing personal.

^^ Lol Teardrop, its nice to see someone else having a heated debate with you for a change.

I didn't really like the Bayonetta demo, I was just pressing buttons and I had no idea what was happening on screen. All I saw was here rolling around and enemies flying and blowing up or whatever. It was all just kind of a big mess.

Try changing the camera speed to medium in the options menu. I've heard that the default camera setting has a difficult time keeping up with everything. See if that helps any

I'm kind of torn on Bayonetta. I loved all the DMC games (except 2), and the demo and videos for this game look tight. But I also agree with some of you that the style and characters/story of the game seem weird. Crazy dialogue and story were fun parts of DMC. But something about Bayonetta just rubs me the wrong way.

Just to let you potential buyers know, Amazon has a deal where if you buy/pre-order the game you get $5 off a select TV series/seasons. It's actually Amazon's Video On Demand, not a physical copy, but thought I would let those who may be interested know

I played some today at Gamestop as they had it on the kiosk as a demo. Her walk alone cracks me up.

IGN reviews -
360 - 9.5
PS3 - 8.2

Unfortunately, the PS3 port of Bayonetta is a very disappointing piece of software. I love Bayonetta -- just look at my review of the 360 version for proof. But Bayonetta on the PS3 is a whole different beast.

The PS3 version has a lot of problems, primary among them being the excessive slowdown and loading. During certain scenes of high action, Bayonetta can slow down dramatically, enough to affect the gameplay experience. I can usually tolerate that sort of issue to an extent, but the loading problems are simply unacceptable.

This game loads all the time. When the player pauses the game during combat or a cutscene, there's noticeable loading before the pause menu is displayed. There's loading when you pick up an item and there's loading as you scroll through menus. There's even an obnoxious load time just to view a list of save files. For a game that's supposed to emphasize quick action and style, these loads are almost deal-breakers.

well...as a PS3 owner i must say...that's upsetting and sheer lazy porting. I was looking forward to this game...now, i might rent it.

Wow, I know about the graphics difference, but I didn't know about all the other problems. Well, the 360 version of the game has mostly hit high scores thus far, so that's nice to see

A friend brought it over and we played it for a bit. The constant loading for every little thing really annoyed me, didn't know that was a PS3 issue. It's a bloody shame, otherwise it's a really great game.

Some overview of the reviews thus far for the game. Looking quite good

We may still have a few more weeks before the hair-based weapon wielding Bayonetta arrives on US shores, but that doesn't mean that reviewers haven't gotten their hands on the region-free, fully translated PlayStation 3 Japanese release (and the lucky folks at Official Xbox Magazine seem to have secured an extra early Xbox 360 review copy). Regardless of the downright silly nature of the game's story and characters, Bayonetta has thus far received universal acclaim from the critics. Here's what some had to say.

  • Edge (100/100): "A beautiful and graceful fighting game that lets imagination loose, and winks before slapping Dante, Kratos and every other hero back to the drawing board."
  • Eurogamer (9/10): "It's in combat that Bayonetta's splendour is fully revealed ... a blast of creative brilliance, both technically accomplished, strategically deep and infused with rare imagination, Bayonetta represents the pinnacle of its chosen niche."
  • Official Xbox Magazine (90/100): "Every one of these dazzling battles is thrilling without overstaying its welcome - and also challenges you without being cheap"
  • Play.tm (95%): "Bayonetta could - and should - breathe fresh life into the ailing Japanese action genre ... an unrivalled showcase of imagination and creativity."

Well, before you throw off buying the game altogether, the PS3 version still has gotten some top scores. I mean the difference between the two has been noted and the score difference is there, but outside IGN, no one else has really made it sound unplayable in comparison to the 360 version. And, personally, I've always found IGN exaggerates sometimes when difference pop up between versions.

Before you put it off altogether I honestly would wait for more reviews and word of mouth to see if the problem is as significant as IGN makes it out to be. We owe that much to Clover, don't we :(

IGN gave it an 8.2. That's still a good score.

Even though it's an 8.2 and it's a good score. but listen to the guy reviewers complaints. it's still enough to turn people who want to play it off of the ps3, period. alot of potentail fan/ buyers even though they see a decent or passable score don't buy things over reviewers complaining like he does. even with scores like that.

If game trailers has the same near response though. hmmm, like what happened with wet and few others.

Then there's a problem.

Ryan Clements (the reviewer) is on the ball. I'd trust him when he says it really does knock the experience down, especially when you look at what the 360's getting.

I personally didn't have much interest in the game to start with, despite the high scores. What people call "imaginative", I seem to find annoying, especially the main character. But a lazy PS3 port is something we've moved past now in this generation, and it's pretty much unacceptable to do this imo.
