Beautiful Girls song

I heard the song by some chubby guy. Didn't know there were more versions. It's ok, I guess. I wouldn't download it. It's one of those songs where even if I was alone on a deserted street 2 o'clock in the morning and it happened to come on the radio, I would still turn it because I just feel like a *****ebag listening to it.

It was very artistic and creative, but now it's just annoying. And it's not like it's getting kids hooked on the originals. If that was happening because of sampling, then I'd be okay with it. But it's not happening.

But most of the time, that's not the goal of the artist. They are simply taking things they love and appreciate and using them in their own personal expressions. Take a filmmaker like Martin Scorsese. He uses the music he loves many times like a character all unto its own.

And sometimes, sampling (like in hip hop) can impact the people who listen to said songs to seek out the sampled material. I know a friend who listened to "Us Placers" by Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, and Pharrell Williams and instantly went out to buy Radiohead records because of the Thom Yorke sample. That's what music is all about, man.

You're comparing Scorsese to today's rappers? Wow. Scorsese doesn't change the music at all. He simply takes the music he loves and uses it to build his characters. He doesn't need to alter the music to fit his view.

Also, I highly doubt a chubby Caribbean rapper like Sean Kingston loves Led Zeppelin. Or Bing Crosby, who he also samples.

Yeah, but it hardly happens.

What about homages?

Why not?

Yeah, but it hardly happens.

I don't think that rappers/producers go around saying "Oh man. That goddamn Zeppelin band sucks. I'm going to make their song better."

You completely missed the point. It has nothing to do with "chopping up the music" or any of that. It's simply using it in whatever way that fits how you want to express something. Of course, expression in hip hop differs greatly from expression in filmmaking. But that wasn't the comparison.

Who's to say he doesn't?

More than likely it's the producers he's working with that do in fact listen to LZ, but you still can't make a statement like that. You don't know the dude.

Yeah, but it hardly happens.

But it happens.

God, cmill, you still have my quote as your signature. The sub-par Spider-Man 3 was like 5 years ago...

Actually it was, like, three months ago. And your quote is still hilarious.

You should be proud of your achievement.

I'm T-Pain, I like ham
On other occasions, I'll even eat Spam

Turkey breast, with provolone
I'll make a sammich with you or alone

T-Pain is a big ass mutha****a.

Please don't tell me those are real lyrics. Please.

No, I just made spoof lyrics because he's an annoying singer. Sing them to the tune of this:

If there was a 1/2  smiley, T-Pain would get it. He doesn't even deserve a full

Haha, T-Pain with his computer enchanced voice.
I'd love to hear him live, at a concert.

Did you guys here his new song that I posted on the 2nd pg?:o

I'll do myself a favor and pass.
I went on his myspace page, and listened to a couple samples, and man, some songs completely come from left field when you compare them to "Beautiful Girls."

He got money in the bank, shawty what you think 'bout that?

Like Nick Adams said in his book, lyrics officially do not matter anymore.

I ain't just talking about that.
Not like it was bad or anything, but he had a thugged out song with the underground beat, and I'm thinking "Wait a sec..."

Ah, the massive decline of Rap/Hip-Hop and R&B...:csad:

The song is alright but not something i could listen to on a loop.
