Batman Begins BEGINS Costume Sculpt...My work in progress

^Yeah, that Chicago footage that was on the Chicago local news station shoudl help you out, David.

I've got the footage but it's too blurry and I also have this pic but it only really shows what we can already see from the video game...assuming that's accurate. It WOULD SEEM to be. If you look closely you do see the same kind of detail on the back of this...

If anyone has anything to offer on the backside.....PULEEESE speak up!!!

:)

Can one of you uber smart computer graphics guys see if you can lighten and bring up the details on the Back of this pic?
I dont need the legs....got those already....just the back of the torsoe.

I've finally been able to determine that the back has just as much detail as the front...but it goes in a diagonal direction like an upsidown 'V' with the tip of the 'V' being in the middle spine.

I cant do this computer mumbo-jumbo because that's not my area of 'geek' expertise. I'm a costume 'geek'..LOL.....but wishing I could also do this damn computer stuff.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated....Oh, and I meant geek in the most respectful way possible.......:)

2, what material do yuo use? and where do yu get it?

cheers if you answer ma Q's

if not its fine but stiil your suit is awsome wearing that youw ill be BATMAN

I tried to bring out a little more detail but the original pic is pretty bad to begin with. Unfortuately you cant bring out information that isnt there. Hopefully this will help a little bit though.

Thanks Ryan!!!
It does help actually.
I know what the back details look like, where the cuts are and so on...I just dont know how thick certain areas are or if they're form fitted....Your photoshop work does show the detailed spine raised up so Yes it does help, thanks buddy.

Spider Dean,

Thanks for the kind words....
No secret here. Anyone can do this sort of thing if they just try....then practice makes perfect and 20 years later I'm still working on getting better and better at what I do.
I'm using water based clay to sculpt the form but it's being applied onto a life cast I made out of plaster. I made a plaster bandage mold of my brother, then a plaster casting from it. So basically I have my brothers upper torsoe to sculpt on top of.

You can get water or oil clays from most hobby stores or building suppy distributors if you buy it in bulk as I do. Same for the plaster or Ultracal 30 which is what I use most for this sort of thing. It's considered a Stone once it sets so it's harder than your average plaster brand of mold making material.

Thanks to both of you!!!
Ryan and Barney!!

I needed this...and I cant take screen caps.

This is just what I needed because now I see just how this is from the backside in a 3d version.

Wooo Hooo.....get ready for the finished piece guys!!!

If you guys can also take the front shot I'd love that too..:)

It's great seeing him paint this.
It's meant to be seen as the clear silicone skin we've been accustomed to hearing so much about with the armor underneath. You can even see the metal wear on the abb area. Friggin sweet!!!

About damn time!!!

Thanks again guys!!

The sculpt is just a pile of malleable clay. You can't wear it. He has to make a mould and cast it in rubber, then attach it to a wetsuit (or whatever).

The actual sculpt itself is destroyed in the casting process, to my knowledge.

Lujho is absolutely correct.
Once I have the mold I can make this in different materials anyhow... even cast up fiberglass pieces and make a full sized statue if desired.

Barney thanks again. Looking forward to the high res scans.

do you notice the size of those triceps on the suit?

The greenish parts of the suit look like naked carbon/kevlar.

Hello,
I seem to be one of the very few people who does'nt like the new batman suit,..first, the ears look comical, second the cape looks like a black blanket and does'nt match the suit and third, the symbol does'nt stand out, just my opinion.

Me...I LOVE IT however there are some who dont like it at all. You're not alone.

It's all about preference and what we're accustomed to seeing for Batman OR what we're willing to allow ourselves to accept as the batsuit.

I think they nailed it...you're intitled to your thoughts on it as well. :)
