BatGIRL Costume BEGINS!! Work in Progress Pics

Started this a short time ago. Based off of Miles Teves' awesome concept design for Batgirl.

I decided to texture everyting like leather and play with stitch lines. The cowl here only has the leather texture from the chin up and not the horns either. I will update this shortly with the finished cowl pics complete with all the texture and stitches..

Here's the torso in progress. I'm just finishing the pores on the cleavage area. The bat on the chest seems to be cut out and just the womans skin but in this case I am sculpting in the skin and will paint it flesh color..
Again, nifty stitches and leather texture. All should tie in nicely.
Since taking the torso pics I toned down the rib cage on this. Much more subtle...but I did want it present just like in the pic above. Hope you guys dig all this whacky stuff!!

I know my approach to this suit is rather different than usual...leather texture, stitch lines....not your usual glass smooth rubber parts but I do think it'll all work out in the end.

A friend of mine did some fun photoshop work on the sculpts. He did them in blue and they look awesome. The cast pieces will be black rubbber though.
Still these are fun...and make for cool eye candy.

Finished the torso scupt.

It's meant to look as if 2 different leathers are used. Textured like the cowl for the body area and smooth sand grain for the breast cups. The chest bat is detailed with skin pores and will be painted like flesh color as to 'look' like it's cut out.
Once again the black pics are just painted sculptures prepped for molding.

Belt almost done...boot topps too.

I know this is kind of 'out of the box' but I hope you guys still dig it.

Really?? Why?? That's been done over and over again dont you think? This design is different, a bit edgy and cool I found. It may not be everyone's preference but I liked it enough as is to try to do it justice. The idea of her chest skin area showing through I found to be innovative. I love the Black bat on the chest...trust me on that...but it is something we've all seen a million times already I think. This is an effort to be different..maybe different isnt everyones cup'o tea...and that's cool too.

I know I took a bit of a risk doing this costume 'this' way but I think in the end now it's all really coming together.
Here's what the chest logo area looks like...the 'focal' point of the costume....

All silicone..Sorry if the pics are too big but I wanted the skin detail to show. The white dots are just dust and crumbs from a make up sponge. I didnt wipe this all down before taking these pics.

And here's a quick shot of the not completely trimmed cowl. Just propped up on what was left of the torso sculpt after I demolded it.

I hope it makes more sense now that you can really see how it's all going to look in the end.

He still posts on occassion over on the BOTB, but its usually to give updates on the Universal Design orders. I dont think he has much time for posting on message boards anymore.
