Interesting, the Bat isn't sculpted into the front on these pics yet. But the "other" pics with texture had the Bat. Guess it was a concept that was abandoned, they wanted that flat charcoal color to the suit.

Heya Dave, when you get a chance, check your pm's, I had a quick question for ya.

That's the best Batman suit I have ever seen.

david... you rock... are you going to do the back too? how are you going to do the gaunlets, an have you started the mask? you rock, i think i am going to try to make one, and suck... but still, i cant get enough of those oh so sweet pics

Thanks for all the rocks!!!! heh heh heh..:) And thanks to everyone for the support on this project. Although most like/love the new begins suit, let's face it...not everyone feels the same way about this new design, but I honestly appreciate everyone's comments just the same. Those of you who have been so kind as to leave me with positive comments all the while not liking the new suit definately showed a mature attitude and an appreciation for hard work none the less...thanks again. You guys really make all the efforts put into this pay off when I read your feedback.

The chest sculpt is finished...and I'm working on the first mold. Between the sculpt stage and the finished WEARABLE casting ...I will have had to have made 3 different rubber molds with the final 2 molds being workable. One for foam latex like what the movie suit was made from and the second for Latex cast suits...these ones will need to take a bit of abuse so latex is great for this.

Yes the back is completely finished....and it sure is purrtty! I think even nicer than the front!!! Maybe it's because I've been staring at the front for so long that having a backside to now look at is a bit refreshing.
The trailer gives some of what the back looks like but still leaves a lot hidden....luckily some have been very kind to me with regards to research and info.
There are a few here who will be greatly compensated for their efforts and trust in me.
You guys know who you are......:)

As for pics.....I've been given the green light to continue to post progress pics but I think I will hold off until the finished casting is done. I am extremely pleased with this piece and I honestly think it's one of my best pieces considering all I had to go on to scuplt this.
I have all the progress pics to date and many more that have not been shown as of yet including detailed pics of the back......but let's see what you all think of the finished casting which should be done shortly.....tease!;)

Cowl, legs, gauntlets, belt, cape clips(unfortunately) knee caps and cod piece will all be done. Once again this is all being done from the ground up. I did not have anything other than photos to work from.

David

what're you gonna make the gauntlets out of? are they gonna be metal or a hard rubber? and how the hell are you gonna make the belt? cause if you can metalwork and sculpt...that kinda makes you a costuming god i guess...and post pics of the cowl asap. very very anxious for that bad boy

Gauntlets will more than likely be made out of resin...just like the movie ones.

The belt will be part cast resin and part cast urethane...and there will be metal components to it also...wont say what and where just yet. Dont want to spoil how the belt works on film:)

In the new year....only a few days away....I'll post some new pics.

It really is unbelieveable how cool it looks and just how complete it is with the backside sculpted on.:)

I hope you guys will agree.

David

Let's just say that January will be a happy month for us.....because we wont be looking at clay sculpt pics anymore.......:)

You'll do fine. ;) Can't wait to see the final result!

you would have to do something like add nipples to the suit in order to make us not like it, and even then, they would still look cool

Notice how the Batgirl costume didn't have nipples...

I'm a girl and all but if WB was going to mandate batnipples, the should have been equal opportunity about it :P

Put it this way....if all goes to plan you'll see the whole suit by the end of January finished and cast up.
Cape too....:)

David

What material will you be using for the cape?

And where are the new progress pics? You sure knw how to keep us waiting!

The cape will be a mixture of crushed velvet and flocked latex.

Progress pics....I'll PROBABLY have a few to show shortly. I really wanted to have the next pics I post be of the rubber pieces so.....let's see how I feel about a quick update soon for you guys.

You've all certainly been really cool and supportive of this project so I feel I owe you at least one more progress shot.
Let me dig one up...
