PJ Wares is a great guy and damn lucky. We've been online buddies for about 4 years now and I read each of his set reports with the same enthusiasm I had as a kid around Christmas time.

I know I've said this over and over again but I cant thank you all enough for all the support you're showing me here...

Sadly I only know how to sculpt and not anything about mold making etc.

as another sculpter/moldmaker who posts here, I have a major suggestion for you. DO NOT USE PLASTER OF PARIS to make molds! Use gypsim cements like either Ultracal-30, or Hydrocal. They are pretty much SPFX industry standerd materials for multi-piece plaster molds commonly used in slush and foam latex, or silicone/polyurithane mask making.

There are several websites where they give you a breakdown on mask making, check it out before you start throwing plaster around.

I concur with Nivek, Plaster of Paris isn't really hard enough, you may be able to reinforce it with burlap or bandages, but it's not ideal.

Unfortunately Hydrocal and Ultracal are impossible to find in the UK. Shoot me an email and I'll put you in contact with my supplier. I use something call Crystacal-R, which seems to work for me fine.

i am really demanding when it come to make super hero costume but you really make great work

I 'm going to make as a producer in France in the next few month a professional fan film ( meaning that there will publicity.the short movies of my team were well recevied by the productions company , and the press in general) and i'm looking for a costume artist ..i Know that you are living in America and you have your personnal work so i'm not sure that you could do it , but do you know great costume atist living in France ?

and even if you don't i have a question , how much money a costume like the begins suit cost you?

Just a quick update....
I havent posted here because I've had to do quite a few changes to my sculpture....and trust me...that's a good thing.
As pleased as I was with my current sculpt...now, with these changes...you guys will really, and I mean REALLY be shocked.

Look at it this way....if the last pics of my sculpt were cool looking...consider that most of it was off detail wise. I sure had no idea!!!!!!
Think about that, think about how close we all thought I had it....and consider that I've made some pretty radical changes to it since!!

Changes that are going to really freak you guys out!!!!!

Sorry Damo I just saw this.

DO NOT USE PLASTER OF PARIS. It is not designed for this kind of work. The mold you will be making of that headpiece will need to be strong...very strong not only for the demolding purposes but also when you start casting up your cowls you dont want the mold to deteriorate after the first pull.

Ultracal 30....learn this name and use it wisely.
You still will need to back it up with burlap....but at least you'll be casting it up in a stone material rather than a plaster material.

If you need help molding it let us know....there's a few of us here who can help you out. You've got a cool sculpt....let's get that thing molded and cast up because there's no better feeling than when you're finished and you can sit back and enjoy the fact that it's your OWN WORK!!!!!
