Batman Begins BEGINS Costume Sculpt...My work in progress

hey dave or anyone who knows, how do you store the sculpture with the clay(oil based) if you are done working on it for the day?

If it's an oil clay sculpture then you dont really need to do anything to it. The clay wont dry out or anything like that. Water clay is the one to worry about in that respect. I guess if you have dust in the area you're working on just throw a towel over your sculpt but other than that you dont need to do anything else. If you're going to store it for long term...like I do regularly with most of my oil clay sculpts then cover it in a bag so it stays clean...but that's really all you need to worry about.

Update on the costume..

Stone chest was demolded from silicone mold today. I dont have time to cast up a resin chest and make fiberglass molds off of it to run latex through for Wednesday so I'm casting up my first chest piece in silicone. It'll be beautifully flexible and as a matter of fact, ****SPOILER****

The scene where Batman gets lit on fire, the stunt man is wearing a silicone suit becuse silicone can resist heat to a certain degree where as foam latex will burn and melt immediately so it's still going to be accurate to that degree.

I'm freaking out and cant wait to pull the silicone chest out!

However....
Wait until you see the cowl.....awwwe man....:)

Keep us informed Dave and be sure to take plenty of pics of the full deal. Looks great so far.

Im excited to see how this turns out, but I doubt as much as David is. I know what it feels like to meet deadlines like this!

Guys...this suit has been in the studio and my main source of 'venting' for spare time work since April of last year.
To finally be in the home stretch....with the finish line only days, if not hours away I'm as worked up and as excited as ever.

David

Okay, you'll appreciate this David, how Raw are your hands in comparison to how your eyes feel?

david "you're a god amongst insects" -magneto, X-2, no seriously that suit is unf***ing believeable. damn, i wish i was that good

When do u think we'll see some pics of the whole suit David?

DAVIDYR1, theoretically speaking, if Nolan approached you to work on a Batsuit for the sequel for BB how would you improve on the design? What stylistic alterations would you implement? How would you improve the movement etc...

Please answer!

"Impressive... Most impressive." - Darth Vader

Looking great, I can't wait to see it when it's done. :D

"Sorry David cant come to the phone right now, he's pulling positives, trimming seams, and going insane from lack of sleep. Leave a message after the beep...... ".

What a tease.

Are you going to take a break after it's completed or do you have another pet project you'll be working on to tease us with? the Superman Returns suit perhaps?
