Batman Begins BEGINS Costume Sculpt...My work in progress

Guys bear with me as I'm on about 5 hours sleep in total over the last 3 days.

Unfortunately we didnt make the film premier as I was supposed to. We were finally ready to go at like 7PM instead of 11:30AM as innitially planned and my problem with that was that by that time it's not like any kids would have been at the theater so we just decided to get some much needed sleep instead of going down in costume for a few hours. It was very devestating to me to not have made it in time considering all the work we put into this but we still are looking to go down on Saturday at this point...weather permitting as we plan to also be outdoors a lot in costume. A friend of mine, Emerson who's also been very helpful here with me made the most amazing scarecrow mask that just is killer. Anyhow we both plan to be around the city on Saturday.
I'm really very sorry if anyone went down to the Paramount expecting to see us there but fatigue just finally got the best of us all and we just couldnt muster up the the strenght to do it by the evening.

Emerson and Jon were both a great help on this entire project and I certainly couldnt have gotten this done without them.

Cape clips, gauntlets, lets, cowl all being photographed also and I'll upload them once I get some sleep..:)

Here's the chest cast up with a flocked cape and Rubies belt.
The chest is silicone and extremely flexible. Absolutely no resistence anywhere when moving.
You can see at this stage it's not mounted onto an undersuit.

Forgive the horrible pics as I cannot for the life of me take good pics. And that's Emerson in the pics...I'm the one behind the lense so that's why the pics are horrible....Pics are not my thing.
Belt is the Rubies licenced belt...best licensed piece ever made in MY opinion.

Once I get some much needed ZZZZZZZZZZZ's I'll add more pics here. Just let me come to terms with not having made this on time and once I'm feeling a bit better I'll update this fully.
Again, sorry to everyone who was there looking for me/us.:(
David

Coolness! Can't wait to see it all put together.

Sorry about the deadline thing, sometimes that cannot be helped, no matter what you do. So, David, are you going to to be in the suit, or is your friend in the pics going to do it?

Great work!! So what if you missed the premiere...there's still opening night for the next Batman movie in a few years! Just tweak the costume to match whatever changes are done to it, and you're good to go!

great man...

you better shave dude, also i can see the cowl on the left side of the picture.

when do we see, well all of it?

hey david, the suit looks awesome. sucks u couldnt make it to paramount cuz u better believe i was there. if u go back down there saturday u can count on me being there again.

David, that is unfreakin believable. If I ever decide to be a dark avenger of justice, I'm going to have you design a costume for me. You are truely awesome at what you do.

Can't wait to see a completely finished costume. Keep up the great work!

Amazing work David, too bad you didn't make it in time.
Looking forward to see the whole thing.

looks great David. can't wait to see the cowl, complete suit.

Wow. So cool. So will you stick the armour parts to a wetsuit or something like that? Awesome work.

I knew it would look good when finished, but bloody hell, that is impressive. With the cape drawn round your models shoulders, it looks phenominal.

Great work David. I'm in awe as usual.

Wowie wow wow WOW!!! Thats too freakin cool. Things Im going to be lookin forward to you sending pics in...
1: The Back!.. you touched on it alittle in past posts but never revealed it.
2: The Cowl!.. in all of its beauty.
3: The Legs!.. I'm still abit curious on how you will do that.
4: The Batsuit!!!.. I want a full picture of the entire thing. 1 pic of the front, 1 pic of the back. Maybe some cool posses like you doing a shield thing with the cape or just turning around real quickly. It's Saturday after all. Be sure to give some kids the heebeejeebees!! That's what I would be doin if I had that thing. Such a long ways David, its definently a work of art. I wish I could be there to see it in person. I'm gonna be waiting on those pictures!.. Once again.. YOU DAH MAN!!!.

Well. I see that nothing has been updated with this thread since Friday basically. I'm alittle disappointed. I thought we all wanted to see this "thing". It's a shame to think of all the time waiting for updates only not to receive them. What's the deal? I was about ready to crap my pants at just the thought of it, and now the climax has already came and went. Can we just see the suit now?:gg::down:down

yeh man!!!!!!! |THE PICS DAMNIIT!!
I NEED PICSSSSSS!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHh

crap.......crap.......mega crap.....

i'll give ya 50 bucks for'em! :D

I am sure David will release the pics when the suit is ready..soon I hope.

Plus keep the thread near the top so we keep it alive until we have the pics.

Don't feel bad David, this is your hobby not your job. We appreciate all the time you already take to keep us up to date on your work.

Some of us were around at the Paramount but we were there for the flick anyway and figured you got held up. It was PACKED you would have been mobbed, you might have needed a real Kevlar weave to survive it :) (On an unrelated note from my conversations many Bat fans were not impressed with Star Wars) BB however got A+ all around, even the girls liked it!

I for one would much rather you take your time get some rest and be comfortable with your work. Genius takes time :)

Belive me I can undestand your frustration as I too want to just be done with this project but the bottom line is I missed the opening and now the rush to finish everything is just not justified any longer. I needed some time to recover from the countless days and full nights with no sleep. Timing is everything and unfortunatly this week we're moving both my home and my studio. That puts everything on hold unless I get a few moments at the end of the day to snap more pics of the cowl and such. The cowl, gauntlets, fins, cape clips, cape and knee caps are all done. Legs I was using my panther legs. It really is frustrating to see all these elements ready and not mounted onto an undersuit.

I really wish I could have made it in time but it just didnt happen. I do make costumes for a living, and I keep very busy and work at a very frantic pase.....but this Begins suit was done in my spare time and in no way affiliated with my business so once I got down to the home stretch it didnt matter how many hours or how many people were helping.

If I get a moments to go snap some more pics I'll be happy to post them up.

All I ask is that you keep in mind that I do have a family and I do have obbligations outside of finishing a suit that was exclusively to be for me. The opening has come and gone and I wont put my wife through this madness any more. I'll do my best to take some pics throughout the coarse of the day. Once most of the studio is boxed up I'll have some room to do so.

^^

David do not feel obligated to please them...some people do not apprectiate art!

you have a family and other commitments..

Leave David alone creeps! he will post when he is damn good and ready!

Do your thing David, family comes first. When you're ready we'll be ready. The committment you've put into this costume is impressive, especially it being done in your spare time. But take care of you and your fam first because you don't want that to fall apart just to appease some fanboy on some comic book thread. Take care.

Dont give David a hard time about this. He did this on his own dime and time, and its pretty ignorent that your complaining about hours lost and crap like that just checking a message board, when he has busted his A$$ trying to get this done on time. Its not like you payed him to do it for you, so shut up.

When do you think you will finish all the suit ?
