Batman Begins BEGINS Costume Sculpt...My work in progress

for the time being, but i wouldnt be surprised if Dave is just really caught up in his work right now.

Hey Guys....I'm still alive!:)

Sorry I've been away for a long time.
I've taken on a pretty big contract that is taking up all of my time....not movie related or anything like that but it did come out of no where (costume related)....and I didnt want to pass it up.

Once this is out of the way I'll get back to posting regularly.
Also, now that I actually logged on I saw how many PM's I had...

WOW!!!

I'll get to everyone in the next few days. However anyone asking about Batsuit parts or things to that nature, unfortunately NOTHING along those lines do I make for anyone other than myself. I dont sell, rent or take comissions that involve Bat related items. No trades or fancy wording to hide the passing of goods from me to a third party. Sorry folks... I only do the Bat gig thing for myself and cannot make anything for anyone else. There are no exceptions to this.

Thanks all!

David

But does this mean you can give people tips on what to use or how to sculpt to look right or anything like that then? That would be cool.

thats not David's, the jerk just ripped it off. And did it poorly.

One thing I don't like about the jacket is how the biceps are not attached to the arm. It looks goofy to me. Otherwise it's a cool jacket. DYR1's is anyway, not sure about the ebay one. Why do you say the guy ripped David off Batsone? Because they look alike, or did the guy actually buy one of David's and disect it for the patterns?

That's exactly what he did.
The jacket I made was influenced by the Begins look. Influenced.
It has influences from the Xmen costumes, Daredevil, Panther and Begins but at least 60% of it is all custom and my design.
The double sleeve is completely MY design. I came up with it, I engineered it and I made it work. Like it or hate it (which is totally fine with me) it is my design. No one had ever done that before in the garment industry.
Now this person has taken it uppon himself to get my jacket, that I made for several people but without the bat on the chest as the bat on the chest was ONLY done for myself, he took his patterns from it and copied it flat out.

Then in his auctions he says that only 200 were made for the film and for a clothing company. What a crock of sh&t. That is MY design he has copied and it was not done for the film, nore were 200 jackets done.

He could of designed his own look but he copied mine flat out. The only thing is his work is not at all up to the task of doing something like this. It takes passion, time and skill to do a jacket like that and do it right. Even though he copied mine his still looks like a 2 year old made it. The shoulders are the size of basket balls, the abb's look like garbage and the double sleeve looks horrible.
I've gotten more emails in the last few days from people asking me what was going on with this particular jacket than ANYTHING else ever.

This is the second garment of mine he has copied, and he has also recast my work.

Thanks to this guy and how he's advertised his jacket....and how bad his looks....my inbox has been full of requests to get one of mine FROM ME because after seeing the so called competition, people STILL would rather come to me for this.

I know my leather work. Costuming is in my blood. I would never do something that looks as bad as that jacket does. Do it right or just dont do it.

You decide...compare the two and you'll see clearly that this so called 'garment maker' isn't anywhere near my league be it in quality, style, look or over all impact of design. His stitching is warped, his shapes are distorded and his proportions suck. I am never critical like this of anyone's work but copying my stuff then lying about it by passing it off as legit stuff for the movie....I dont think so....

This one is mine..

Dave, tell me it's not who I think it is ripping off your work....re-casting hmmm could it be????

Hey David. Just checkin in on the progress of the Costume. So how's it coming along? Imagine. You started this more than a year ago. And yet I'm wholly interested in seeing the finished product. Not an easy task as I have the attention span of a 2 year old. But yeah. Keep up the great work. Also, how's the web site coming? I remember you were working on that or something about 6 months ago. I've kinda been MIA on this site, if you already said it. Sorry, but I'm very interested in your work.

Life's a garden, dig it. You gotta keep on keepin' on.

I bet most of you who are anxiously waiting for the contest are pissed off!!!

am I right?

don't promise if you can't deliver the goods!!!

Well, maybe you're right.
However much has changed in the industry since I wanted to have this contest. I post on these boards for fun, and share my work as a fan just like the rest of you but these are places that are open to the entire public and everyone who is remotely interested or associated with a given franchise keeps close tabs on these places. Fans and industry people alike view or post here. Keep in mind that I work in this industry. As it turns out something as harmless as giving away a cowl isn't exactly as harmless as I thought.

I understand if some of you will be angered by this but I hope everyone truly understands when I say I 'cant' have this contest. In other words it's out of my hands and unfortunately it was a mistake on my part to want to do this.

I just want everyone to know that my intentions were sincere, but I'm up against a brick wall now. My apologies to all.

David

I don't mind, atleast your honest about it.
Just keep making those damn good costumes.

David, you should go for the Superman Returns costume next...

and can you repost the final suit, because those old pics expired.

David

Hey David. I ment no disrespect in the arm comment. I'm sorry to hear about this recaster. They are trully nothing more than moles on a witches ass.

So David, have you done any work on the pre-batsuit? If so are you still planing to have it molded in segments?

Wow, that is an amazing jacket! You truly are great at what you do.

I really want a Batman costume so bad, but I really dont think i have the skill, or even the money to make one. I'm also wary about buying on online, as I have no way of really checking out the quality or seeing if it fits. I'd hate to spend money on something like this to fnd out it's too big or too small for me, or it's just plain low quality.

You know what would be awesome? Next time you make a batman costume (if you decide to make another one), you should consider video taping it. It would be awesome to see a step by step video instruction of just how to make one of these.
