Benedict Cumberbatch is Doctor Strange

Tony wasn't full jerk. he was playfully arrogant.... Pre accident strange should just be an arrogant ******* minus the charisma

The way he is a jerk in Sherlock is a preview of Jerk Strange I think

And Tony still has a massive ego and is still a jerk to a lot of people. Strange should become way more humble and nice once he begins to train under the ancient one.

Cumberbatch tries out new names :woot:

I'm as straight as an arrow but d@mn THIS GUY right here.
He is such a unique actor not only in terms of talent he is one of the best ever but as a human being too. Such a gentlemen and a fun guy. Marvel really hit a home run here, maybe their best casting. Plus he will be a joy to have on your side during promotion which he graciously does with joy unlike some others who just show up or in some cases don't even want to. And he won't play hard ball with Marvel for a bit more money later on. I think his only criteria is a good film, rest isn't that important to him. I read somewhere that from almost 40 films he did only 3 weren't critically well received. That's a very great record. So it's obvious how well he picks his roles. I'm sure he could've picked money over most of those great roles if he wanted to and star in awful films but he never does. Which is very admirable.

He's still kind of arrogant now, but it comes off like, "this problem is magic based and you fools are trying to punch it into submission."

Yeah I think it's less arrogance more just 'surpeme' confidence due to his abilities, I'm sure some arrogance is there, not everyone is going to be Cap levels of humble. But he should certainly not have as massive ego as Tony still has.

Like I think a lot of people would still call Tony a d*** if you know what I mean, but Strange shouldn't have that going on post ancient one.

Sans Cap, I basically gauge it as, everybody that was ever on or considered for a role in the Illumnati has an air of arrogance about them.

Cumberbatch and Hiddleston should make a movie together where they're both doing impressions of everyone else. You could get both of them talking like Owen Wilson at the same time.

Strange goes from thinking he is gods gift to surgery to being a humbled broken man who loses the skills that he believed defined him. Being taught magic and becoming the Sorcerer Supreme gives him a new outlook and purpose in the world.

Strange fall from grace is deeper than Tony Stark's was in some ways. Tony's views changed but he was still the same person in many regards but Stephen Strange is like a total different person pre-Magic and post-Magic

I hope we see that journey in the movie. If they skip out on all of that because they're tired of origin films, it would be a shame, as he has one of the most interesting origin stories. I don't want to see a fully formed Strange immediately but want to see him go through all of the emotional turmoil. That in itself would be an interesting movie before they even get to him fighting threats.

People compare Iron Man and Doctor Strange origins but Strange's is more dramatic.

Richards is the worst....Black Panther is pretty wise and humble

T'Challa can be pretty smug.

I wonder if Stephen Strange, surgeon, doctor, Benedict Cumberbatch's Strange if he will have an American accent? Because Stephen Strange is supposed to be American so I wonder if Benedict will have to have an American accent for this role? If he does then it would make sense for him to have an American accent but I don't even think Cumberbatch has even done an American accent before at least not to my understanding

And yes you are right, Stephen Strange and Tony Stark their origin stories are fairly similar, similar character traits in the sense that they are both smart, gifted, but also arrogant

Cumberbatch has done American accents a number of times before.

And with Cumberbatch playing an American character pulling off the accent is one thing but can he really pull off the dick-head arrogant type who ends up becoming an alcoholic who then ends up becoming the Sorcerer Supreme

Nope. He's never played a dick-head arrogant type who sees himself as superior to everyone else.

But with Benedict as Dr. Strange, I would want to see him as a threat to HYDRA/SHIELD considering they mentioned him as a threat and let's face it he is because of his sorcery

I just watched The Imitation Game over the weekend. Nothing much to report other than to agree with the majority opinion that this was absolutely one of the best movies of the year, and Cumberbatch was outstanding as Alan Turing. I think the best Oscar race is basically down to Keaton and Cumberbatch.

I think it's actually between Keaton and Redmayne.

You are correct.

The award shows are popularity contests. Birdman and Hawking are popular, Benedict & Turing are not. Eddie has been campaigning 24/7 forever now. Benedict doesn't care about that. I actually thought that Benedicts performance was the best of the year. Had so much abstract and layers going on within restraint. But if you want an award you have to be ''in your face''. Multi layered and subtle performances usually aren't awarded because of that.
