We all know that a majority of people favor the clown prince of crime when it comes to the villains of the Bat. However, Batsy has a rich library of rouges to love or hate. Many of them crazy and head straight to Arkam Asylum, but some know exactly what they are doing and get sent to Blackgate Prison after being apprehended by the Bat. Besides Joker, who is your fav Bat villain and why? Also, when did you start liking this villain?

As for myself, I've always have had a soft spot for Oswald Chesterfield Cobbleopot. Call him boring if you want, but I always found a sophisticated and debonaire gentleman who is a criminal genious very intriguing. I believe my love started for this character when I was a child when wacthing BTAS (though I must admit, as a kid I liked that swiss army knife of an umbrella he had more than the character himself.). I also enjoyed Batman Returns back in the day because of him (despite them making him the exact opposite of what he was both mentally [smart, and not crazy at all] and physically [mutant looking and sloppy]).

So peers, what villian in Bat's rouges gallery do you enjoy the most outside of our favorite clown?

Two-Face, without a doubt. I really like how there are several different origin stories for him....some stories he always had a bit of a dark streak, a precursor to the Two-Face aspect. But others he was literally like a white knight, noble and true, who suffers a complete fall from grace. On a side note, I can kinda identify with the character personally...I have OCD and can totally understand Two-Face and his coin obsession. :2face:

Except for Joker, all the main rogues pretty much tie for 2nd for me. Love them all equally in different ways.

Black Mask.

Because he'll kidnap your sister and feed pieces of your brother in law to her.

Scarface. I might even like Scarface more than the Joker. He has to be the creepiest and most unique villain ever.

For me, probably Scarecrow. Batman comics featuring the Joker were always a must buy. But whereas the Joker was so in your face, I enjoyed the dark quiet psychological aspect of the Scarecrow. If you haven't seen it, check out the picture of Scarecrow by Alex Ross in the new Justice series or the action figure based upon that artwork. It's simply amazing as is his interpretation of Bizarro.

Ra's Al Ghul. Two-Face is great in that he shares an element of tragedy with Batman, but if there was ever both a physical and mental match against his skills in an overall sense, it would definitely be Ra's. I could actually see Batman's demise at Ra's hands, if he ever went out of his way to pursue destroying him.

So many to choose from.

Joker is definitely my number one. I think I'll agree with Batman072 and say the rest are tied for second. Honourable mentions to Two Face, Scarecrow, Ra's, Ventriloquist and Black Mask.

Riddler.

I just enjoy the game of cracking his riddles to lead to whatever trap or get up he has Batman going too.

Plus recently him trying to make a honest living or do good, a nice twist for the character. And when i was a kid i dressed up as Riddler from BF for Halloween, that Riddler cane was always awesome to have in school.

Ra's Al Ghul... just reading any line delivered by this guy makes him more threatening without using physical violence to intimidate someone.

And his appearance on BTAS crystallized him as a number 2 villain behind the Joker

- Two Face: I love the duality of the character. The tradgedy that he used to be an ally to Batman and Gordon before his scarring. Great villain.

- The Ventriloquist and Scarface: Quite possibly the wierdest and freakiest of Batman's villains. The puppet is the boss, and the Ventriloquist is merely a lackey. Brilliant. Not too keen on the new female ventriloquist. I prefer Arnold Wesker.

- Black Mask: The most ruthless underworld crime boss Gotham has ever had, IMO.

Well put. I really think in some ways Scarface is a better villain than Joker.

There are few villians that can match Batman physically... Bane may be one, maybe Hush, maybe Clayface, but in nearly every battle with Doctor Phosphorous Batman has been beaten or nearly beaten.

Besides Joker? I'm including Joker!

I love the Riddler most of all. Everyone forgets that Batman is the Greatest Detective <except for Ghul> and Riddler is his Moriarty.

Love me some Riddler.

:thing: :doom: :thing:

Well for one he isn't overexposed...:oldrazz:

But the way they have that air of the occult surrounding Scarface but at the same time never really say that has anything to do with the doll seeming alive beyond a Ventriloguist giving him life. They just hint at it like it might be true. The fact Scarface is the one in control and not the Ventriloquist. Even to the point that Scarface wants someone to kill the Ventriloquist. The way they really establish that they are two different people. What a great villain.

My favourite Batman villains next to The Joker are probably The Riddler & Two-Face. I like the Riddler because of his high intelligence and insatiable need to outsmart Batman. Two-Face has always interested me because he is such a sad, tragic character, which Eckhart nailed perfectly in TDK. For that matter, Mr. Freeze was another well-written tragic character in B: TAS. He had some beautiful moments in that show.

Hard to believe, before that show, Freeze was a complete joke.

I still think so much can be done with Freeze. I saw a documentary on a guy called Richard Kuklinski, who is known as the Iceman Killer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Kuklinski
The show was so gripping that I could see Freeze being presented in this fashion rather then the laser ice beam shooting villain he's been shown as for years. It would totally fit Nolan's universe.

That would Be a dramatic VERY DRAMATIC REINTERPRETATION OF FREEZE

for me besides The Joker is the riddler, but Catwoman is also high on my list as well as the penguin (NOT BATMAN RETURNS PENGUIN), two-face

Hard to believe before that show alot of Batman characters were jokes. That show was the first time I actually thought Robin wasn't the dumbest character ever made.
