This has been a year with some killer action in it,so nominate 3(and only 3) that you think were the best......this thread can stay open until Monday night when i will get modlipsheart to close it and then I'll make a poll of the top 8 consisting of the sequences with the most noms in this thread


My noms

1)The Chesapeake bay bridge sequence-MI-III

2)Free running crane chase -Casino Royale

3)Plane sequence-Superman Returns

Those are definitely my top 3, but I'd put the Free Running sequence just above the bridge sequence. Put the slow-mo fight from the end of V for Vendetta behind the plane sequence, and you've got yourself a damn near perfect list, IMO.

the parkour chase in Casino Royale was definitely the best overall.

loved the sword fight with Elizabeth and Pintel & Ragetti vs. Jones' crew in DMC.

the Vatican op in MI3 was the high point of the movie.

and despite the movie being s#!t, the rollercoaster disaster in Final Destination 3 was f***in great.

though I haven't seen them, something tells me Crank and The Protector will end up joining that list once I watch them.

I know this is hard for you since you ain't to sharp but unlike you i happen to like movies from both comic makers,i love the Spidey movies and i like X2 and DD(directors cut) as well as Blade 2, you are the freak b/c you are obsessed with marvel like a drooling zombie with semen caked spidey underoos,capiche ?

Well opion on liking something sure but from the standpoint of how to create an action sequence using camera movement,editing,sound effects and music it is pretty perfect,the fact you hated the movie so much maybe means you were at the point of not caring when it happened.

Oh, I totally agree with most of what you said, I mispelt it in my earlier post, but I was impressed with that scene technically speaking. I would still argue from a technical aspect some of the POTC stuff was better, the Kraken attack at the end especially, I was very impressed with that, possibley even more was the choreographed three way fight scene. I have first hand experience editing stuff that is 1/1 billion times less sophisitcated then the plane scene in Superman Returns, but I think I have even more respect for the work that went into the sword fight, if we are speaking in technical terms. Also the Knife time in V for Vendetta was really sweet to

but if we are going technicallity sure SR plane rescue would be closer to getting a nomination from me, then if we went off of opinion of liking something

I think I actually started half of the SR polling threads and I hated the movie

It's funny because I don't even blink at any of the action scenes in SR. Superman saves a plane...again. I for the life of me don't understand where the 200 million dollars went? Singer says there is going to be tons of action in the second one, but if he couldn't get any in the first movie with that huge budget how much is the second one going to cost, 300 million?

BTW I've seen several studios release their early DVD sales, why hasn't WB released any figures yet? Maybe the whole week sales numbers look better, who knows? but I still find it strange.

There was no point outside of showing off 3.000 special effects, out of everything in that movie the plane sequence is the absolute least important thing that happens, mearly shows that Superman is back to the world, but we already know he is back so that doesn't generate the same response as that same action scene done differently (like say he leaves mid movie, and we are under the impression superman has given up, and then out of know where he saves the plane) could generate a more positive response

Yeah, although I don't hate the movie like you do, I do find it too be a dull and pointless slight remake. I honestly don't know what the point was? They got two people who looked like teenages to play 35 year olds, why?

Thats a fantastic point, I found it to be action for actions sake, which is funny because the movie isn't action packed at all. Not that I wanted it to be or anything, honestly the story and characters are the most important part of a film. I'd argue that the lack of a supervillain fight is hugely important to me but the lack of me not truely caring about any of the characters is far more important. Bosworth is a capble actress but I never believed for a second that she was a mother and experienced reporter.
