List some of the best effects you've seen in a film along with some of the worst ones.

Best Effects:

-Spider-Man swinging doing various acrobatics
-Navi in Avatar
-All of the robots that appeared in Transformers
-The T-1000 from Terminator 2
-Ghost Rider's flames

Worst effects:

-Shenron from Dragonball Evolution
-Daredevil jumping along rooftops
-Liu Kang and Shao Kahn's animal forms in MK: Annihilation
-Goro Falling in MK1
-Green Goblin's attack at the parade on SM1

The worst effect in Daredevil was the fight between him and Bullseye in the church. The worst use of CGi and greenscreen I've seen in a mainstream film

Children of Men had some of the greatest effects I've seen in a film.

I also loved the special effects for Minority Report.

The effects themselves weren't too bad, but the over-abundance of sfx in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith really turned me off.

The CGI in Gi Joe The Rise of Cobra was pretty awful...

The CGI swordfight in Blade 2 was horrible, Blade and that chick had PS2 cutscene quality character models

Wolverine's blades in the bathroom scene in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

They looked better 10 years ago.

I Am Legend had terrible CGI for a big budget film, as did the daytime fight scene in The Incredible Hulk.

Die Another Day - the para sailing sequence.
Quantum of Solace - Bond falling off the church tower with Mitchell.

Best, probably Jurassic Park. Both the special effects and visual effects blended seamlessly, and still look better than anything being churned out today.

Worst: anything ever made by the Sci-Fi channel.

Yea surprisingly the dinosaurs still look good up till this day...

Wonder when it will be out on Blu-ray...

A Sound Of Thunder... the futuristic cg city backgrounds.. actually the whole damn movie. i liked the shots when the world transforms though.. and still somehow enjoyed the movie.

Beserker rage scene from Wolverine. The audience's reaction was louder than any comedy I've ever been to.

Best:
-Birth of the Sandman in Spider-Man 3 plus the flawless air battle between HarryGoblin and Peter.

-Everything in Spider-Man 2.

-All the Iron Man FX shots in two films have been beyond spectacular.

Bad: (The bad ones stick out more)
-I Am Legend did have its awful moments.

-Wolverine gets a bad rap for CG (the helicopter chase was excellent use of CG) but those cartoon claws in the bathroom were bad.

-Most of the Clash of the Titans creatures were so very fake with no substance whatsoever.

-The Rock's head on the Scorpion King in The Mummy was laughably bad.

-Really bad beasts like that lynx thing in Watchmen and the animals in 10,000 BC.

-Dumb Brontosaurus Stampede in King Kong

-most everything in Van Helsing

Considering the budget was only a fraction of other space-based sci-fi movies like Star Wars/Trek, I thought Serenity's sfx were pretty great.

I'll go the alien route here:
Christopher in District 9 was unbelieveably great looking.
The alien in Indiana Jones 4 was just horrid. I can't believe Spielberg allowed that in a movie.

You're kidding, right?

Best:

Spider-man 2 train sequence

Worst:

Jar-Jar Binks

Can't believe no one has listed Davy Jones from POTC 2 as one of the best.

That's a good contrast , District 9 looked real and ID4 has obvious cgi but it didn't ruin that movie for me .

I love the scene in Star Trek where they warp into Vulcan and there's all the debris from the destroyed ships and the Enterprise has to manuver around it. That scene pretty much puts to shame anything in all the Star Wars prequels.

Not sure if it has been mentioned yet but the surfing scene in Escape from L.A beats everything, and Wolverine and Die Another Day had some of the worst big budget CGI ever.

The CGI swordfight in Blade 2 was horrible, Blade and that chick had PS2 cutscene quality character models

Where they fight the 2 ninja type guys?
