I have seen them all. There are four in the group that I really like...Return Of The King, Slumdog Millionaire, The Departed & No Country For Old Men. The rest are mostly okay. Crash is the only one I would say is complete trash, although A Beautiful Mind and Gladiator both bored me.

Final Rankings:

1. No Country For Old Men
2. The Departed
3. Return Of The King
4. Slumdog Millionaire
5. The Hurt Locker
6. Million Dollar Baby
7. Chicago
8. Gladiator
9. A Beautiful Mind
10. Crash

The Departed and the Hurt Locker were my favs of that list.

Fair warning Harry, Morg is going to show up, make you feel dumb about being in the wrong part of the forum, and then close it. :csad:

Thanks for moving this, Hunter! I don't start threads very often, as you can tell.

No Country.

Also...it may be cool to do these threads as maybe best picture winner of all time. Keep going down each decade and then the winners of each decade will go against each other to determine best picture of all time.

No Country For Old Men. The Coens are probably the best directors working today.

whhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?

No Country is probably the best film there. I have a soft spot for Return of the King, in the sense that it the entire trilogy was honored when it won.

Switch the top 2 and this is mine.

No Country for Old Men.

Ugh I can't stand Slumdog Millionare being a Best Picture winner, and before you jump to conclusions, it has absolutely nothing to with TDK, I just legitamately don't like it on its own merits, or lack there of.

I'd probably have to go with No Country For Old Men or Million Dollar Baby, both films just stuck with me.

I like the Departed, a lot, and I'm really glad Marty finally won Best Director, but I love Children of Men so so much more.

For me, it was between Slumdog Millionaire and No Country for Old Men. I voted for Slumdog, but it's damn close.

The Departed, hands down.

As for a list:

1. The Departed
2. Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
3. Gladiator
4. Chicago
5. A Beautiful Mind
6. Slumdog Millionaire
7. No Country For Old Men
8. Crash
9. The Hurt Locker
10. Million Dollar Baby (I actually hate this movie, even though I loved Mystic River and Letters from Iwo Jima)

The irony is only The Departed and Gladiator--maybe ROTK, as well--were the actual best films of their years. All the others I can think of anywhere between 2-15 that I thought were better. But that's just the Academy, eh? ;) :oldrazz:

The Departed then No Country for Old Men and then Gladiator with Hurt Locker and Million Dollar Baby rounding out my top 5.

This comes down to 3 films for me:

Gladiator
Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
The Departed

I think ROTK is probably the most impactful of the 3 films, but at the same time, I need the previous 2 in order to fully enjoy it. Less self contained than the other 2 options. I personally go with Gladiator for my personal fave BP winner of the decade, but I think ROTK is equally deserving. The Departed is great, but I think it is just slightly under Gladiator and ROTK for this.

1. No Country For Old Men
2. Return of the King
3. The Departed
4. The Hurt Locker
5. Slumdog Millionaire
6. Gladiator
7. Chicago

I haven't seen the rest.

****, this is hard.

I gotta give it to Lord of the Rings: Return of the King though. A fantasy film to get honored and tie with Ben Hur and Titanic as most wins. Happy Jack put it well that ROTK winning was like honoring the entire trilogy, because I think all three are one film. That won rounded them all up.

The Departed or No Country For Old Men are interchangeable for me.

The rest:

4. The Hurt Locker
5. Gladiator
6. Slumdog Millionaire
7. Million Dollar Baby
8. Crash

I haven't seen Chicago and A Beautiful Mind. I have zero interest in Chicago.

1. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
2. The Departed
3. No Country for Old Men
4. Chicago
5. The Hurt Locker
6. A Beautiful Mind
7. Gladiator
8. Slumdog Millionaire
9. Million Dollar Baby

Never saw Crash.
