In a year with several memorable characters, which one impressed you the most?

In terms of performance, the top three are definitely Reynolds, RDJ, and Cumberbatch, IMO.

Reynolds, RDJ, Cumberbatch, and Evans are all tops in my book. But if I have to pick just one I'd give it to RDJ for his power house performance in CW.

I haven't seen Doctor Strange yet. So I shall not cast my vote. But as of now, I was really impressed by Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther. Made a hell of an impression being a stoic character in an ensemble film with only 20 lines of dialogue.

Got to go with Cap but I thought Black Panther was awesome as well.

Iron Man. RDJ was on top of his game in this one.

My runner-up choice would be Dr. Strange.

Amazing that even after nearly a decade in the role RDJ can still command our attention in a year full of great new superheroes and performances.

Snap! Batman, you forgot about Jon Bernthal as the ******* Punisher. He was amazing.

He's not a CBM character. He's from TV.

What a great time to be a fan where we have to have separate lists for both movies and television. GREAT performances in both mediums.

i have to go with my boy Spidey.
Loved Cumberbatch as Strange too.

I need to watch Suicide Squad to see where Deadshot stand, but for now it's definitely Chris Evans as Captain America, and most of the ones from that movie.

I'll give a shoutout to Evan Peters as Quicksilver.

1. Chris Evans

2. Benedict Cumberbatch

3. Chadwick Boseman

Benedict Cumberbatch,Chadwick Boseman and Tom Holland were all fantastic new additions to the Marvel roster, while RDJ gave his best performance yet as Tony Stark in Civil War.

Impressed the most - Batman/Bruce Wayne (Affleck).
The prettiest - Harley Quinn (Robbie).
Best new hero - Deadpool (Reynolds).
Best acted hero - Iron Man (RDJ) OR Doctor Strange (Cumberbatch).

Doctor Strange, then Spidey and Iron Man for third.

Worst is Mystique, then Superman and Batman.

I can't decide, so here are my top 10, in order of appearance:

Colossus - Finally this character is utilized to good effect. I don't care what he's supposed to be like in the comics, I thought he was hilarious here.

Batman - I liked seeing how messed up Bruce was in this, and despite the ridiculousness of Clark saying Martha in that moment, I liked seeing Bruce snap out of his psychological funk, and I liked where his character ended up, the speech, etc. Affleck nailed it. Plus, the new suit, batmobile, Knightmare Batman, etc.

Superman - I don't know if it's just Cavill or just the territory they're playing in with these movies, but I find him to be a very endearing character -- the guy with the world on his shoulders who sacrifices himself to save it. Could have been done much better, but I still liked it nonetheless.

Wonder Woman - What an entrance. Shoutout to the hilariously over-the-top, yet creative and impossible to resist musical theme.

Iron Man - Nice to see more layers with this character. Downey killed it. I'd want to punch Cap in his perfect self-righteous teeth too.

(Gi)Ant-Man - Running in and around the Iron Man suit and the use of Giant Man were awesome. And I might have been the only one who found "does anyone have any orange slices" to be hilarious. So Paul Rudd.

Cyclops - I just thought it was nice to see Cyclops again and shown as the powerhouse character he is. I'm talking about scenes like Scott accidentally splitting Xavier's favourite tree. And I thought Sheriden nailed it.

Quicksilver - The actor plays it all so chill, yet I found him quite endearing in this.

Deadshot - I dug Will Smith's sarcastic pessimistic Lawton. Those few scenes where he shows off what he can really do were so awesome as well.

Doctor Strange - I never knew Strange had that much personality. The images I've seen of him from the comics never really exuded much of anything, so I was pleasantly surprised with the character and Cumberbatch's performance.

In terms of performance Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle in Daredevil is the one that impressed me the most with Robert Downey Jr in Civil a very close second. However in the poll I decided to give the edge to Doctor Strange as I have been absolutely impressed by both Cumberbatch's portrayal of Strange and Marvel's sheer boldness in faithfully and successfully adapting such an outlandish character. They deserve major props here for fully embracing the weirdness of their unique source material.

Anything DC this year, aside from Margot Robbie's take on Harley Quinn has been a massive letdown. On the Fox front we both had an amazing Deadpool by Ryan Reynolds who would fully deserve to land in the top 5 best cbm heroes of 2016, and another aggressively mediocre take on iconic X-Men characters. Apocalypse stands pretty much in couterpoint to Doctor Strange in that regard and I'm getting increasingly sick and tired of Singer toning down the influence of the source material especially in this day and age (and this is coming from a huge fan of X-Men, X2 and Days of Future Past).

I'd have to say it's Ryan Reynolds, which is surprising, since I've never been a big fan of the guy. But his Deadpool was perfect. He really gave the character a lot of heart and pathos while yukking it up for the camera. It ranks up there with Christopher Reeve and RDJ as one of the best portrayals of a superhero on film.

Next up is Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange. I mean, we all know from Sherlock that he'd nail the arrogance of Stephen Strange's character, but it was nice to see him bring the vulnerable and humorous side as well. And let's not forget he pulled it off with a pretty convincing American accent. High marks for that.

Last is Chadwick as Black Panther. Like whoa, I know people are still geeking out over Tom Holland's Spider-Man (great as well) in Civil War. But for me Boseman's T'challa stole the show, even from Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. (both excellent btw). It makes the long wait for his solo film all the more painful. Man, is it 2018 yet?
