My pool of potentials include:

Deadpool
Batman
Superman
Wonder Woman
Deadshot and the rest of Task Force X

My rankings:

Deadshot - I liked his motivation and background
Diablo - I liked his motivation and background
Deadpool - Had a great time with him, pretty cool costume too
Superman - Snyder made me feel sympathy for a character that I'm normally pretty cold toward
Katana - Simple motives, but I liked her soulstealer gimmick
Wonder Woman - I liked her score

When does he blur the lines of good guys vs. bad guys? He is the one who doesn't do it. Look at his conversation with Peggy in TWS. That is a huge part of TWS and Civil War. It is why he calls Fury out on the new program. It is why he is able to defeat Hydra and keep Tony from making the biggest mistake of his life. It is why he saves Bucky even as everyone tells him not to. He doesn't blur the lines, everyone else does.

In CW, we saw a Cap who was done debating philosophy and waving the flag, and mainly kept his own counsel on right and wrong. That meant lying to a fellow Avenger (which he had been doing by omission for a long time) and committing multiple criminal acts, possibly risking an international incident, to protect a wrongly-accused friend. At this point, he's no longer the law-and-order soldier, but a man who only trusts a small inner circle of individuals--a Nomad, if you will.

How come?
I guess I lost interest in the character after a while, couldn't stick with him like I stuck with Moon Knight, despite Deadpool remaining a bit more consistent in his different incarnations.

I feel a similar way about Dean Cain as Superman: He does a near perfect job at representing a version of the character that I happen to dislike.
He had good touches of Silver Age moments in his show.

Cumberbatch as Dr Strange.

While Civil War was a better movie overall, it was because of the strength of the cast as a group. Cumberbatch and Swinton pretty much carried the whole film, backed up by the most amazing special effects - but without that amazing performance as Strange, which is the movie's core, it wouldn't have been
anywhere near as good.

Dr Strange is a tough one to play, not that well known and very weird, but BC brings him to life wonderfully.

RDJ is a close second, best performance as Iron Man, since the first Iron Man film - he really took it to a new level, but didn't do as much heavy lifting (in terms of carrying the movie) as Cumberbatch.

So BC all the way, IMO.

REALLY tough choice, there are a number of actors I could vote for. But in the end I just HAD to choose Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter.

Just kidding of course! Emily did well with what she was given. But I had to go with Reynolds, brought the character to life brilliantly and made us sympathise with someone who on paper isn't a nice person.

But Boseman, RDJ and Robbie and Cumberbatch all run him extremely close.

I also feel Sheridan as Cyclops, Turner as Jean Grey, Cavill as Superman, Batfleck and Will Smith as Deadshot brought their characters to life really well also, despite not having the best material to work with.

The speech, Falcon's expression, the music, the meaning. Cap always comes back for hims comrades. Perfectly summed him up as a hero, and why he is beloved.

Yeah, it was a good way to end his solo trilogy.

That's fair enough. Never really got into Moon Knight, myself.

He had good touches of Silver Age moments in his show.

I've been meaning to rewatch the show as there are some elements I did like, like Lex and Lois.

Steve breaks the law and goes against command in his first movie. He lies on his enlistment forms FIVE times (a Federal Offense) and then he disregards Col Phillips orders and goes AWOL behind enemy lines to rescue Bucky and the 400+ POWs. He turns himself in for discipline after but he knowingly broke command and could have been sent to Leavenworth.

That's what Steve does. His moral compass is that strong and clear. The world doesn't bend him, it bends toward him.

I guess there's change in that he doesn't turn himself in now to command but that's because he doesn't believe they have the authority and the moral right. He's not going to let Ross imprison him and his friends under the sea without due process.

For this poll, Steve Rogers was the best CBM hero this year so I chose him.

As wonderful as Evans is in the role RDJ had the best performance. If genre movies were treated with the respect they should be he'd be nominated for a Best Support Actor Oscar (even though he was really co-lead).

Props also to Boseman, Reynolds, Cumberbatch

That's the difference between Cap then and now. Bucky is safe in Wakanda, but Steve isn't interested further consequences because he's no longer convinced that they're fair ones, or even necessary at this point.

A lot of great performances this year, but my vote goes to Ben Affleck as Batman and it's not even close. I liked him that much.

So hard to choose with all the great performances. The top 5, in order of appearance, would be:

Deadpool
Captain America
Iron Man
Black Panther
Doctor Strange

I'm surprised Harley isn't getting more love. These boards sometimes act like she's the second coming.

In terms of impact on an audience, I'd say Black Panther. For my own personal impression and the 'wow' factor, Wonder Woman.

Scarlet Witch always gets my vote, but Captain American was the best this year. So much heart, and I loved the arm porn in the helicopter scene. :funny:
