I'm counting it, Hopkins was pretty much playing the continuation of Fairbanks character, plus the last one is somewhat the same plot as DK Rises just 7 or 190 years before, depending on how you count it,:cwink:

3. Does it count? As others indicate more of a vehicle into an expanding shared U.

Though I actually prefer Holland as Spider-Man and enjoyed Homecoming the most as a stand alone), agree this one holds up as a self-contained trilogy.

5. Have no idea if they work stand alone, saw them in order with the rest of the bloated spectacle.

6. Was there four in this series, must have skipped one :funny: ? (and the last one is a bit of a blur, he fights a solar-nuclear-powered hybred-clone of Lex+Kryptonian DNA, on the moon right? ) I can't remember that far back,

9. Hey if DC/WB themselves are going to bundle and market the three as a Keaton Batman film collection,
I'm also counting it as a trilogy. :funny:
(just re-imagining KLara as the Daughter of (Reeve)Superman and (Lynda Cordova Carter)WonderWoman :cwink:

Do they count? Never watched them as stand alone sequels, not sure how well they would work?

Could be trash, yet for fun, I'm going to assume this one is about to land itself here.

I'd also say Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy falls in that category as well even though No Way Home continues Peter's story post-Spider-Man 3. There's also the Blade trilogy too. :o

I said it on the first page of this thread but I don't consider any of the MCU "trilogies" to be proper trilogies. Thor is no longer a trilogy and Captain America is about to get a fourth movie. Iron Man 1-3 could function as a trilogy but you need The Avengers in there for the full context and Tony's arc continues for another five movies after that. Ditto with Guardians of the Galaxy because without Infinity War and Endgame, and to a lesser extent the Holiday Special and Love & Thunder, you miss a lot of important information between Vol. 2 and Vol. 3.

Yeah, that’s what I mean when I say “conventional” narrative and charcter arc. Hard to put any MCU movie in the trilogy category when the characters keep showing up and “growing” in movies outside of their own.

1. The Dark Knight trilogy
2. Spider-Man (Raimi)
3. X-Men (original trilogy)

Agree with some of the other comments that the MCU 'trilogies' don't really function in that way since the characters/storylines progress beyond those three movies.

Well, as predicted it did not disappoint, had all the irreverent shlock, I hoped it would.
Though fun, the jokes, mostly meaningless cameos(to me), and overused musical montage fights, all wore-out fast, pretty much a one note joke dragged on to long.

I've gotta say, having seen Deadpool & Wolverine I'd rank it at number 3 behind the Dark Knight Trilogy and Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy. At least until Deadpool 4 comes out.

I'm still sticking to my guns about not including any of the MCU "trilogies" since A. each of them require viewing other movies beyond just the three for full context and B. the list is growing shorter since soon there'll be a Cap 4 which really only leaves Iron Man, Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man. Of those three I'd choose GOTG since that's arguably the strongest one of the three but even so, you lose so much of that overall story by going from Vol. 2 straight to Vol. 3. Even Love & Thunder and the Holiday Special are needed for context there.

That being said, it might sound hypocritical that I consider the Deadpool movies to be an actual trilogy more than the ones in the MCU even though there are plenty of connections to other films in them, especially Deadpool & Wolverine. But the difference is that, not counting the previous bastardization in X-Men Origins, Deadpool is only in those three movies and we see his story progress from point A to point B to point C without ever needing to watch any other movies to fill in the blanks. Wolverine in D&W is a slightly different story but since he's not the central character of the Deadpool movies he doesn't count. He's in the title but he isn't the main character. Someone who hasn't seen Logan might be a little lost while watching Deadpool & Wolverine but it's not the same as how lost someone would be if they went from Guardians Vol. 2 to Vol. 3 without having watched Infinity War and Endgame.
