Best DCEU villain so far?

we have had a number of villains in the DCEU so far, some have been good, some bad and some in between. I wouldn’t say we have had a standout so far but just wondering who people think has been the best we have had so far?

For me it’s probably still Zod, but I did like Orm and Savanna

I think Doomsday and Ares, possibly even Black Manta were under rated also.

Next year we will have Cheetah and Black Mask to add, along with whoever Pedro Pascal ends up playing.

Viola Davis and her steak and detonator have been the most menacing thing in the DCEU thus far.

Haven't seen Aquaman or Shazam! but of the others it's Zod (preferred Shannon to Stamp) closely followed by Faora (man, I wish they'd find a way to bring her back).

I would say my top would be:
Ares > 7 Deadly Sins > Zod / Faora > Ocean Master > Dr Sivana > Black Manta > Lex > Enchantress / Steppenwolf > the rest

I definitely think Black Manta and Orm have the chance of going up a notch once AM2 comes out.

I thought Sivanna was really good but Strong definitely elevated the material he was given.

I think this is a battle between Orm and Zod. I think Zod is the overall better villain. More range than Orm and Michael Shannon owns the role. He's one of the best things about MoS.

Zod. Strong & clear motivations, Michael Shannon portrayed him very well & something that makes Zod such a good villain overall, particularly the MoS version, is that he believes he's doing the right thing. Patrick Wilson's Orm would be a close 2nd for similar reasons.

I've yet to see Shazam so can't comment on it's villian(s), hopefully I'll be able to find time this weekend before Endgame hits.

I thought Sivanna was really good but Strong definitely elevated the material he was given.

I agree, Strong did a lot with a little - he has massive screen presence and that sells what is otherwise a one note character.

Having said that I feel like none of the DCEU villains have been exceptional - it's more a question of who's the least one dimensional.

In that regard IMO the answer can only be Zod. Yes he's a shouting fanatic, but as an audience we understand why - and his demise is a little more nuanced because he essentially forces Superman to kill him. All in all a good performance by Shannon with a bit too much shouting.

Plus he's got Faora as a henchperson, and she was such a badass.


A really tough question would be, who's the worst DCEU villain ( as in bad performance/ characterisation etc.) ?

My heart says Luthor, but objectively I'd have to give it to Enchantress, if only because of the sheer amount of idiot ball virtually everyone in the cast has to hold just to prop her up and make her a threat.

I'm going with Zod. Dr.silvana and faora are really good second places. Orm third. Lex needed a bigger role to make him too dog here though and not share the villain role with bats
