Hey can anyone help me out. I want to read up on some Goblin stories, I'm just wondering what are the best issues/arcs with the Goblin? Besides The Death of Harry Osborn and The Death Of Gwen Stacy.
Thanks Fam

Personally, I love A Death In the Family from back in '02.

PPSM vol2 issue 44-47.

^^ can you tell me which Issues that covers, I go to a website and download them.

Also, in case you have never read it, you will definately want to get the Revelations arc where Norman made his big return. He doesn't appear until the Amazing issue so you can skip the Spectacular and Sensational if you want, but it is one story so you will be missing the build up to the big finale.

Spectacular (v1) #240
Sensational (v1) #11
Amazing #418
Spiderman (v1) #75

Also, the follow up issue in Spectacular #241 is something I liked as well, where MJ and Peter put it "behind them".

It is Amazing (v2) #25 and PPSM (v2) #25.

Are you going to Donald's library at the Black Arachknight site to read the issues? I love that site.

Spider-Man: Revenge of the Green Goblin #1-3
Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 2) #25
Peter Parker: Spider-Man (Vol. 2) #25

Damn beat me, BUT
your missing Spider-Man: Revenge of the Green Goblin #1-3 which take place before that :oldrazz:

thanks guys
Yeah thats the site I'm using.
Makes my life so much easier haha

ASM #176 to 180 has the only GG III story... and it's an awesome one.

I think it's being reprinted in the current Spider-Man Family comics...

:yay:

Many people will disagree with me, but I loved Revelations, aka Norman's return. It has Norman being a mastermind, ruthless as hell and beating the snot out of Spidey. All good things to have in a Goblin story.

I also enjoyed "Spider Hunt." It was printed in 1997. I cant think of all the issues, but I think Sensational Spidey 25 and Spectacular Spidey 255 were two of the four chapters.

Goblins at the Gate was fun, it set Roderick Kingsley against Norman. It was also in Spectacular, a little after Spider Hunt.

Avoid "The Gathering of Five." Norm was really written out of character in that one.

Also, here is a link to a list of all of Norman Osborn's appearance in the comics. A good reference if you are looking for all the issues with the original Goblin.

You can also go to the profiles of Harry and the other Goblins or villians to get a reference to their appearance. That may help you search for stories with Kraven, for example. Check out Kraven's Last Hunt if you've never read it and want a good Spidey story.

Boy that is a tough one.

I would say the following would be the best Green Goblin arcs besides ASM 96-98, ASM 121-122, and SSM 200:

ASM 14, 17, 23, 39-40
SSM 178-184 (The Child Within, a personal favorite of mine that does not get the attention that it should, J.M. DeMatties was at his best during his run on SSM)

Yup. I agree too, thats why I recommended it earlier.

Note to the Topic Creater:
You should really read the Revelations arc (especially SM #75), after The Death of Gwen Stacy and before you read any more Goblin arcs that occur after 1996. It is the return of Norman Osborn and explains how he never really "died".

I was 10 years old around the "Revelations" arc. I remember reading ASM 418, the issue tha revealed Norman Osborn to be alive. SM 75 following that last panel on ASM 418 was incredible.

You should buy the book Son Of The Goblin. It has best Harry stories ever.

I was actually a rather big fan of Millar's Last Stand, the dialogue explaining why norman and pete always fight each other and the letter at the end really hit osborn's character well, IMO.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Spider Hunt, was what really sold me on spidey! I liked the comic so much I got as many back issues as I could, including revelations, anything with Ben Reily in it, and some stories before then and a little after too. I also loved Hobgoblin vs Spidey, or as you refered to it, Goblins Gate. Good times man. When is Roderick comming back anyway, is he still chillen like a super-villain on that island?

They've already been mentioned but to reiterate "The Child Within" (which is very likely in my top 5 all time Spidey arcs, forget the fact it's a gobby story)......and "A death in the family" which are both must have arcs.

Revenge of the Goblin, which seems to be getting a lot of love here, overall is a pretty good story, but Norman Osborn drugging Pete with toothpaste is pretty darn silly and contrived and took something away from what could have been a classic tale...(my opinion only)

The two best Goblin stories are as follows:

#1-Amazing Spider-man #39 & 40

This is the story that cemented the Goblin as a threat. He was always dangerous to Peter, but this arc made him THE villian. Honestly, it also has two of the best Spider-Man/Goblin fights ever.

#2-Amazing Spider-man #121 & 122

The Green Goblin became legend here. This arc brought back the Green Goblin, and gave him his final bow (what SHOULD HAVE BEEN, anyway) is reall one of the greatest battles of all time.

#3-Spectacular Spider-man: The Child Within

Harry's fall into insanity is chronicled here, along with a look at some of Peter's own demons. Also, the resolution, or the lack of, makes this tale truly awesome.

#4- Spectacular Spider-Man #189 and #200

The end of Harry. Great battles and great character moments. Just buy them.

I'll admit, I don't think any tale of the Goblins after Norman's resurrection are anywhere near as good as the tales before them, so I won't name them.

I should also mention the current thunderbolt's arc and reason in madness nicely showed what Norman is about.
