The Amazing Spider-Man Best interpretation of Green Goblin in Media?

Are the Osborn's gonna have red hair in this series? :P

The Spectacular Spider-Man did so much justice for Norman Osborn and the Green Goblin. It showed why he's Spidey's greatest enemy, cunning, unpredictable, manipulative, ruthless. A fantastic mystery around his true identity just like the original comics, but they took it even further and really had some fans thinking it wasn't Norman. But damn was Norman an awesome bastard in TSSM. Dude didn't take crap from anyone.

And he never apologized.

That makes the TSSM version of Norman, easily SPECTACULAR

And he never apologized.

i want they to do that like Peter running into him and then he will be like
-oh, sorry i didn´t see you
-don´t apologize , i never do
and then they Harry (hopefully) introduces each other

That would be fun

What, no love for 60's cartoon Goblin, who stole books on the occult from magicians, or 80's cartoon Goblin, who wanted to turn everyone in the world into goblins?

I would have to go with Spectacular as well. True, it is more Osborn in the comics post return from the dead, which was sort of a Lex Luthor/Joker mix, but it was also true to the Goblin's original roots from the 60's in trying to take over organized crime. And yes, I was kept guessing until the last episode to his identity!

I also though Willem Defoe did a great job with the character as well. The only problem was the costume was awful.

Yeah, if I could have a live-action movie series that's basically an adaptation of SSM, I'd be in heaven.

That would be perfect! That was what I was hoping for when they rebooted the film series. (Just came back from seeing Amazing Spider-Man and I was kind of "eh")

This is REALLY tricky. Green Goblin has such an iconic look to him. However, we've seen in the various testings of Sam Raimi's Goblin that those particular individuals couldn't nail down a classic look that would be accepted among movie goers.

Then again though, they painted themselves into a corner. They were approaching the Goblin character from a military standpoint. They needed to create something that looked like you would see it in combat. While the movie didn't flesh this out completely, the movie novelization talked about the costumes purpose as striking fear into the hearts of those who opposed the military force. It was kind of an interesting concept but yeah not Green Goblin.

I'm toying around with the idea that Webb and co fuse multiple iterations of the character into one entity. They could take pages from Ultimate where Osborn does transform into a creature/how the Green Goblin is presented in Spider-Man Noir with a disgusting skin condition etc.

They could then have it be where Osborn uses various rags and such to clothe his body. The Alex Ross Spider-Man kind of comes to mind here. The personality of Goblin could easily be that of what we've seen in the Spectacular Spider-Man.

Then again though, Webb could show Osborn's interest in masks and thus spark kind of a creation from that. This is just spit balling here but maybe they could do a scene where Osborn is giving Peter a lecture on why people wear masks. Similar to the speech he gives in Spectacular Spider-Man.

"We all wear masks Spider-Man but which one is real? The one that hides your face? Or the one that is your face."

That line has stuck with me all these years. Absolutely chilling. It'd be cool to see Osborn pick up various masks during the speech gesturing to which masks are his favorites. When he then becomes the Goblin and needs to make a mask for himself he is inspired by various features on his favorite masks. Maybe one has a truly demonic mouth while another has scary eyes.

Again, just kind of spit balling here. I just want a Goblin costume that is as close to the original as possible. I think going off of Lizard design, Marc Webb has a fascination with some of the early designs. Almost like paying respect to them. I feel that's one of the reasons why they went with the Ditko esque design.

I would love to see a scene that is reminiscent to this piece!

Honestly, for this film series, I'd prefer to see TSSM version. We've already seen Willam Dafoe's interpretation. Each time Spider-Man is brought to the screen, I'd like to see something new, something we haven't seen before, whether it be an entirely new concept or an old concept revitalized. Seeing Norman the criminal mastermind, magnificent bastard, and big bad of the Spidey universe is different than Willam Dafoe. TASM's GG should NOT be retreading the same ground as Dafoe.

That being said, I like the mastermind Norman the most myself. I feel he's just more sinister that way, more enthralling. I also like how, in TSSM, he's connected to the creation of most of Spidey's villains. It adds a continuity that really ties the whole series together.
