Which actor was the best Lex Luthor? My pick is Kevin Spacey. What is yours?

If Kevin Spacy would actually be allowed to play the Lex Luthor of today, I'd pick him, he's perfect for the movies.

But till then, my pick is Rosenbaum.

Tie between Rosenbaum and Clancy Brown. His Luthor voice is SO good.

It's between Rosenbaum, Spacey and Brown. If I had to choose I'd go with Rosenbaum whose performance took me by surprise.

Spacey and Brown are great. So cold and smooth, very evil, and intelligent aswell.

I still go with Gene Hackman and Kevin Spacey a close second.

You make a Lex luthor poll and forget to add John Shea? But you add clancy Brown who just did a voice, and the guy from the old serials? WTF?

Yeah, John Shea is easily the best Luthor.

Rosenbaum is easily second, the rest (Spacey included) are all clumped together well below the top two for me.

Gene Hackman was the best. I bet Spacey could top him but we need to see more of his Lex to judge.

my vote goes for Rosenbaum. he's a cold, indifferent, intelligent Luthor; the way I always pictured Luthor. close second would be Hackman. he's obviously more campy but I dunno he just did it for me. I wanted to see Spacey's version really animate for SR but with Singer doing a stupid remake of STM Spacey wasn't permitted to bring a different version.

Spacey and Hackman did well performing the campy Luthor, but Rosenbaum and Brown are just superb, since they are the REAL Lex. The way he always should be.

I didn't know you were the ultimate authority on the character of Lex Luthor :whatever:

Oh and by the way, campy Lex was around for 48 years. 'Real' Lex has been around for only 20 years. So who is more valid?

This is what I don't understand. People seem to think he wasn't jokey in the slightest in the comics, like they think Christopher Reeve playing Clark as a bumbler is wrong, people should read some of the earlier comics.

Rosenbaum by a lightyear ahead of those crappy wig wearing versions. Very extremely super close second is the one from TAS.

I'll say it again. No wigs.

No.

Just No. Don't argue with me.

But Weyseed, wigs are sweet, man!:cwink:

I'm down with Clancy Brown as far as who was the best Lex Luthor goes.

Hackman was a great Luthor, but I picked Spacey cause I loved his darker and meaner Luthor.

Brown is a great as the "voice" of Luthor and Rosenbaum is also great as the younger Lex Luthor.

Haven't seen the serials so no comment.

You got it nailed.
John Shea all the way.

Hard choice but I picked Clancy.

By the way, I have comics of Lex with either hair, or a wig.
