SR's plane rescue sequence is the best moment we've gotten from a live action Superman this century. (Granted, I haven't seen Smallville but yeah)
The movie is really a drag in some places, but I think it's hilarious that BvS's colossal fumbling as a Superman film has caused some reexamination of SR, and that plane sequence in particular kinda exemplifies the tone of what Superman should be.
I was really meh on Man of Steel. Kinda was an apologist for Snyder back then. I'm okay with taking the Batman Begins template and giving it to Superman, it's just that the themes and messages didn't go the way I imagined. The characterization of Pa Kent is just criminal and I felt like they could've balanced Pa and Jor-El better. It's similar to SR in regards to how it feels like a wasted opportunity.
But SR I felt like dealt in real adult emotions. Singer was just blinded by his love for the Donner films. He's clearly grown as a filmmaker now and I think if he tried to make a modern version of the Donner films post-Nolan/MCU, he'd do a better job. But alas.
Oh and Ottman's best work to this day is his SR soundtrack. Just great stuff. Spacey would've been an awesome Lex, even in the Snyderverse. (Though he may kinda Frank Underwood it thinking about it now)
