Saving Private Ryan. Opening battle was f&%$ing fantastic.

I'll take Flags of our Fathers, Letters from Iwo Jima, the Band of Brothers mini series, and Das Boot

^Atonement is another one I missed, Windtalkers as well, but I doubt anyone would have voted for that anyway.

Yeah it would have been just mean rooting for Atonement :woot:. But for those scared off of it because of the romance angle, you should really give it a try. The second half of the film takes place in WWII England and France, and it\s absolutely breathtaking in it's realism.

Can't decide between Saving Private Ryan, Valkyrie, Thin Red Line and Letters From Iwo Jima.

Shouldn't Schindler's list be in that poll. Not really a war movie but still.

You are right. Is this poll about movies covering the actual war like Saving Private Ryan, or movies that take place during the war like Valkyrie.

I really never cared for any of those movies........either the last great war wasn't so great or filmmakers today suck. I'm pretty sure it's the filmmakers

Theres alot of good WW2 movies with a variety of storylines and views...
So, its really hard to choose the single best WW2 movie;but some of may fav's:
Saving Private Ryan
Das Boots
Band of Brothers(tv series,mini-movie its still great)

Both of those but the modern one's only, as Schindler's List was 1992 (I think), I didnt really consider it modern.

1993. What's your cut off point? 1998?

I think I'm going to say Saving Private Ryan ultimately, it's got a perfect mix of everything a film should have. It's a modern epic.

^Basically anything over 15 years old doesnt make it onto the poll.
