This has to be a separate thread since Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes have totally different grading systems. Besides, a lot of people here in SHH have reasons for following Metacritic over Rotten Tomatoes.

If you want to get a gauge of how Metacritic has ranked comic book movies since the year 2000...

Top 10 Best rated Marvel/DC comic book movie of 2000:

83% = Spider-Man 2
82% = The Dark Knight
79% = Iron Man
73% = Spider-Man
72% = Batman Begins
70% = Superman Returns
68% = X-Men 2: United
66% = Captain America: The First Avenger
65% = X-Men: First Class
64% = X-Men

Top 10 Worst rated Marvel/DC comic book movie of 2000:

27% = Catwoman
30% = Punisher War Journal
32% = Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance
33% = Jonah Hex
33% = The Punisher
34% = Elektra
35% = Ghost Rider
39% = Green Lantern
40% = Fantastic Four
42% = Daredevil

For those not familiar with the grading system, the difference between the 2 is that Rotten Tomatoes has a thumbs up/down grading system, so they're scores are "based on their interpretation". In other words a critic giving a film 2.5 out of 5 stars although 50% (considered "Rotten") could still be considered "Fresh" in Rotten Tomatoes' eyes based on their interpretation. See some reviews like Green Lantern and you will see a number of 2.5 out of 5 stars almost deniably considered "Fresh" more so than not.

But in terms of Metacritic, they actually give a number to a critic's review so 2.5 out of 5 would be given a 50% score automatically no matter what the the interpretation of the reviewer says.

RT actually has a rating score out of 10 its just that no one pays attention to it.

Metacritic scores skew lower than RT, so I'm gonna say 71.

Around 68-71 sounds right, since it would put Avengers in the ballpark of Superman Returns and X2. Not that I, personally, agree with that score --- I'm sure I'll rank it much higher, just from what I've seen already -- but I just don't think critics are going to be as enamored of the ensemble megabudget popcorn flick as they were of the more personal solo films of IM, Thor, Cap and even Hulk.

82! I guess im just hoping that it can be considered as good as spiderman 2. Does everyone pretty much agree with their top ten in terms of position?

Replace Superman Returns with Thor, and I'd generally agree with that Top 10. SR, however, shouldn't even be in the Top 20.

I agree with those films being in the top ten (except SR), but I disagree quite a bit with the order. Mine would look more like:

The Dark Knight
Spider-Man 2
Iron Man
Batman Begins
X-Men: First Class
X-Men 2: United
Captain America: The First Avenger
Spider-Man
X-Men
Thor

The Dark Knight
Iron Man
Captain America: The First Avenger
Spider-Man 2
Batman Begins
Thor
X-Men: First Class
X-Men 2: United
X-Men
Spider-Man

Yeah, I had to edit mine to exchange SR with Thor. That just seemed wrong, lol.

I guess something around 75% but I hope for more

I will be satisfied as long as it has green and over 80

I will guess 83 final score
