Best Multiplayer Games for PS3 and Xbox 360?

The only online game I've played for any decent amount of time for the new systems is Resistance. And while it is fun, I'm not quite blown away by it. I also found Gears of War to be a bit too slow paced on multiplayer for me.

What games do you guys think really offers an awesome multiplayer experiance that would be worth buying or at least renting a game for?

Def jam icon is hillarious fun, because it's amazing graphics, and when your with mates, beating the crap out of each other has a certain extra special quality to it. I point to exhibit A:

Spending an all nighter with 2 mates playing tekken 5.

Um well if you play online check out Rainbow 6 : Vegas or Call of Duty 2.

I had a blast with CoD2 and still play R6 pretty regularly

I heard CoD2 was really good online. Are there any vehicles or turrets in the maps?

CoD2, Rainbow 6, and Ultimate Alliance have been my favorite mp games for my 360, but Strikers for the Wii is climbing up there.
