Geeeeeeeeeeezzzz, you're getting a little defensive....

Relax.

:)

Green day always stood for what they believed in no matter if people called them sell out, pop or whatever. Isnt Standing up for yourself, your ethics, your politics, the essence of Punk Rock???

Oh Im not getting Defensive. :D Im just simply stating the Facts!!!:D

It may have been said...so sorry...but Lars Frederiksens CD is good. :o

The original version of "I fought the law" is my favorite as well, I love the old surfish feel it has to it.

And I think Green Day is better than all the other bands on the list, at least they realize that punk rock is a !!!!ing joke

Thank u Achilles. :D Damn did i just said That.

hahaha I guess so. when will people learn, this whole "I KNOW WHAT PUNK IS! ITS AN ATTITUDE! ITS A WAY OF LIFE!!" learn? It's a stupid type of music for gods sake. And it promotes conformity, when it is supposed to be about doing your own thing. The only way you can be a true nonconformist is when you be yourself, not when you be a "punk."

That being said, I still enjoy some punk bands, I just dont take them too seriously.

that can be said for a whole bunch of genres....

I BLEW GEORGE AND HARVEY'S BRAINS OUT WITH MY SIX GUN!

btw greenday isn't that good no matter who( the clash included) likes them. Just because they covered a Ramones song horribly doesn't make them my kind of band. Little prissy people selling out stuff I love. Lou Reed should come and inject anti-freeze into them. *he shot up anti-freeze once and lived* then Iggy Pop and rape thier dead bodies for all i care.

Is it? I'd heard so before, but couldn't bring myself to buy it because my ex had an obsession with Lars that gives me issues with trying to listen to it. Plus, she listens to GC, which is negatively indicative of her taste in music. But if it's really good, I'll check it out.

well i really dig lars voice, so if he really annoys ya, dont buy it....but other than that, there are a bunch of great songs on there, and you can prob pick it up cheap so i say go for it....

For me, Its between The Sex Pistols and Rancid, I haven't listen to that much punk music to know many bands.

I never really got the allure of the Sex Pistols. I mean, they don't really sound all that good to me compared to other punk bands that were around at the time. Holliday in the Sun is solid, but not much else is and alot of it sounds the same... they do a great cover of No Fun though. Rancid has nothing on Op Ivy.

The music is fine. The culture is filled with a bunch of idiotic conformists these days. I have no problem with dying your hair or having a mohawk, unless your doing it to "go against the mainstream"... that's just stupid.

I don't mind them all that much... they know they aren't really punk and I think the bassist called himself a sell out once. I have a problem with their stupid cult following and their !!!!!!! of a front man.

First can you find me the quote where the bassist said this. Do you even know what the bassist Name is?? And What the hell did front man ever do to be !!!!!! Its not like Their on MTV talking about their new album or TRL. There sole purpose has always been to write music from the heart. Not wheater if its punk or not. Green Day reason why they signed to a major label was to get their music out there. Thats all. Not for the Woman not for the sex, Not for the Fame. If you really read their lyrics almost all their songs are anti-social so i dont know what your talking about. I mean You cant even find their T-shirts in hot topic. What Green Day first than any other Punk Band. They Brought Punk To the Masses. I know The Clash and The Ramones are just rolling in their graves right now kicking themselves. I mean Punk Was Dead before the 90s. Sure thats not whats punk is about. But you have to admit we were all Teen Boppers before we became what we are. Like how we were all once newbies here.

Come on sandman cat got your tongue!!!

I was never a !!!!ing teener bopper, I was a metal head for a while, but at least even then I was listening to bands like AC/DC and Iron Maiden. I have an interview from the bassist (no I don't know his name because I don't !!!!ing give a !!!!) in a book called Declaration of Independents which is a compelation of a skate/boarder/underground magazine. And The Clash brought punk to the masses, my mom knows who The Clash are and my friend's dad has London Calling on vinyl (anyone know what cover they were parodying?). I'll admit I was a poser when I first got into punk, I had God Save the Queen written on my jacket and I thought it mattered. Their lyrics are terrible trying to be Emo but ending up sounding whiny like Dashboard Confesionalls. They have some catchy little jingles, but no !!!!ing substance. I can listen to Train in Vain or Sweet Jane at least twenty times before it starts getting old... I can't even get through a Greenday album, they're obnoxious for all the wrong reasons. I also don't give a !!!! about their lyrics because THEY as people are so !!!!ing bland. Iggy Pop cut his entire chest to ribbons with a peice of glass on stage... that's punk. Sid Vicious stopped playing in the middle of a set, got off stage, and kicked the !!!! out of some kid just cause he felt like it... that's punk. Glen Danzig hardly went a show without punching somebody in the face... that's punk. Throwing mud at a (pathetic) "Woodstock" show is not punk... and what the hell is punk doing at Woodstock? Punk wasn't dead before the 90's. Op Ivy was alive and kicking people's asses in the 80's. The Exploited were doing !!!! in the 80's. Fear was around in the 80's. Henry Rollins and Black Flag were kicking ass in the 80's. Hell... even Adam and the Ants were doing some crazy !!!! in the 80's. Greenday is a !!!! band with a moronic group of idol worshippers for a following.
