I actually like some punk but I really don't care much for any of the bands listed. And for the record (maybe someone said this already) Good Charlotte are about as punk as a slightly cleaner version of Hanson.

I still haven't the heart to vote for any of those bands... :(

I'd have a tendency to go with Bad Religion for their early albums, like "How could Hell be any worse", "Back to the Known", "Suffer" & "No Control", but they really started to go downhill after "Against the Grain" and "American Jesus" was just plain boring.

:(

Offspring. 'Cause Clerk said so.

Offspring :D

Maybe in another life
I could find you there
Pulled away before your time
I can't deal, it's so unfair

And it feels, and if feels like
Heaven is so far away
And it feels, and it feels like
The world has grown cold
Now that you've gone away

Leaving flowers on your grave
To show that I still care
Black roses and Hail Mary's
Can't bring back what's taken from me

I reach to the sky
And call out your name
And if I could trade, I would

And it feels, and it feels like
Heaven is so far away
And it stings, yeah it stings now
The world is so cold now that you've gone away

Gone away, gone away, yeah
yeah yeah yeah yeah

And it feels, and it feels oh yeah

Don't sell your soul, no, no

I reach to the sky
And call out your name
Oh please let me trade
I would

And it feels, and it feels like
Heaven is so far away
And it feels, yeah it feels like
The world has grown cold
Now that you've gone away

Gone away, gone away
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

And I feel, and I feel, oh yeah
And I feel, and I feel, oh yeah

From that list I like Green Day and The Offspring the best but I must say I prefer Flogging Molly and Cruiserweight.
Why did you bump this thread:confused:

no decendents?

no mr. t experience?

no queers?

no jawbreaker???

are we talking best "mall-punk" or best "punk-punk"?

Out of that initial list? In my opinion it would have to be AFI. Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes, Black Sails in the Sunset and The Art of Drowning were just fantastic albums. Each had their own distinct sound and showed the band ever so evolving. That's just my opinion of course.

I find it odd that Green Day, Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, and Blink 182 are on the list. Most people don't accept Pop-Punk bands as real Punk.

I have to go with Blitzkid on this one since they're the only Horror punk band to make a true impact since the Misfits. But I think it's only proper to also take into consideration AFI's older work as well. Some of the best stuff out their.

Out of that list, Rancid is my favorite. They did a really good job mixing different genres while still retaining a fundamental punk sound.

My favorite punk band is probably The Bouncing Souls though. There have rarely been such great songwriters in the genre.

Not a big fan of punk but the Misfits are the best punk band of all time. That said since the poll referred to the 90s, I voted for Blink 182

some of the best punk is pop-punk (i.e. the ramones). the problem is, pop-punk today is beyond embarrassing and has given the genre a real bad name.

in other news, pretty much everyone on that poll blows and gives punk itself a bad name. rancid's out comes the wolves is a good album, and bad religion has some jams. but everything else on there sucks.

p.s. the greatest punk band to exist in the 90's (and one of the best ever) was The Mummies.

NoFX all the way. I am a huge fan of them from Ribbed to Coaster. I know the cool thing in the punk scene is to automaticly hate them, but I don't care they are awesome.

I don't see why, they're a pretty decent punk band. Although, I admit that I don't really fully understand the punk scene yet.

Green Day. Though they're no longer punk per se, they have been incredibly influential, innovative (for the genre) and most of all enduring. So many bands fade or the music dates badly. For the most part, Green Day has remained great and has earned their place in rock history, in my opinion.

I just read most of this original thread and can't stop laughing at how freaking stupid it got.

According to this thread, I'm not punk at all because I don't like bands like The Clash or The Ramones. They are just so boring to me. Not a fan. I am, however, mostly into 90's skatepunk. Lagwagon, Nofx, Strung Out, Basicly almost any band on Fat Wreck Chords. Thats what introduced me to punk. Then I started to listen to some Descendents, Minor Threat, Fugazi, Black Flag, and Misfits. What have I learned? Milo Goes To College is the greatest punk album ever.

Also, about Nofx, punks just hate them for some reason.

I know people think that "So Long and Thanks For all The Shoes" was their last good album, but that is definatly not true. Pump Up The Valuum, The War On Errorism, Wolves In Wolves clothing, and Coaster all have their highs and lows, just like every album ever made. Watch Nofx's Backstage Passport that was on fuse. It was awesome.

Punks are just a fickle bunch of ass holes, it seems if more then 30 people like something, its not cool anymore.
