Since we've already covered the discussioon of who's the best lead singer, guitarist and drummer, there's only one poll left:

Out of these choices, who is the best rock bassist?

For me, there's only one choice:

JOHN ENTWISTLE
john-entwistle.jpg

He was the first man to make the bass a truly prominent instrument in rock and roll, he created the greatest bass solo of all time in "My Generation", and he quite simply puts all other bass players to shame (the only one who comes close is John Paul Jones).

Who's your pick?

...What the hell, not another one:(

Damn it I was gointg to say Entwistle

Next up "Best Rock Tambourine Player".

I'll go with Robert Plant again.

Jaco Pastorious. Close thread.

I was lucky enough to actually see him play live in 1986 (I was an 8th grader who worshipped Metallica at the time) when Metallica opened for Ozzy.

Arif Mirabdolbaghi of Protest The Hero(He is definitely young, but he is a prodigy of the bass.)

No love for Jaco, eh? How about Billy Sheehan, then? Les Claypool probably deserves a shout-out, too.

Where are Les Claypool, John Myung, and Cliff Burton?

And where's Phil Lynott? Jack Bruce? Les Claypool? John Myung? Steve Harris? See Anthony, I can do it to your poll too :o ;)

Well, you see you're limited to 25 (personally, I think we should go up to 30, but it's not my call), so you have to find the 25 Most Iconic (re: popular ones). I pretty much feel like I got all the most influential ones. Claypool, Sheehan and Bruce I'm kicking myself about though.

Still it's not as bad as leaving Townshend off a "Best Guitarist" poll. That's a travesty.

But yeah, I left some good ones off.

Yeah, in his days with the Police, Sting definitely was pretty good. Pastorious always gets overlooked. Probably because he died so young. Check out some of Billy Sheehan's solo stuff. I think you'll dig it if you're a bass player.
