Best romance in the MCU

Best romance?

  • Pepper and Tony

  • Thor and Jane

  • Captain America and Peggy

  • Black widow and hawkeye (assumably)

  • Skye and agent ward (agents of shield)

  • Melinda May and agent ward (agents of shield)

  • Bruce and Betty

  • None

  • All of the above

  • I'll wait to see Thor/sif before making my final choice

  • I'll wait to see wanda/vision before making my final choice

  • I'll wait to see Steve/Sharon before making my final choice

  • I'll wait to see ant man/wasp before making my final choicd

  • I have a totally hot fan fiction idea that I want to see that's better than anything here

  • Can't decide or other

We haven't really seen a proper romance yet because obviously with action flicks you need to keep the pace fairly steady. I'm looking forward to a few good ones though and I still like pepper and tony.

The only I'm a little bit weak on is Thor/jane pretty much for no other reason other than in the last movie they got an academy award winning actress to pretty much faint all the time.

What about you?

Cap and Peggy for me. Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell had such great chemistry together, that you we're really gunning for these two to hook up. And because tragic circumstances force them to be apart for so long, [BLACKOUT]that their reunion in The Winter Soldier becomes such a gut punch for many of us[/BLACKOUT]. Yes, for me this is the best romance I've seen in a MCUfilm, probably in any superhero film.

Too bad this is only the MCU. Because my vote would have gone to Peter and Gwen.

Completely agree. Taking the options into consideration, my vote here goes to Capt. A and Peggy.

All this!! also Peggy is a badass, without going completely warrior, but she is believable as a soldier and intelligence agent. The respect Steve has for her is noticeable and the same from Peggy to Steve from the time he was small Steve; they worked well together because of that mutual respect and admiration; and then there is that scene in TWS... what a punch to the guts!!

But I also will wait and see what will happen between Sharon Carter and Steve.

Agreed. Peter and Gwen destroy all others.

Of the MCU though I'd go with Tony Stark and himself. Would've been Thor/Jane if they didn't fudge it up with Avengers and TDW

If we were talking about all marvel films I would have chucked in jean and wolverine. Shame we never saw the romance between jean and cyclops

I'd have to stay with Pepper and Tony. It's the best relationship of that sort I've ever seen in superhero films. Steve and Peggy would be the runner-up.

Rhodey and Tony

but really, Betty and Bruce. That was a legit love story.

I also can't wait to see Thor/Sif. They've barely even laid the groundwork.

Pepper and Tony. These movies are too light to have a strong romance, but turning it into a screwball comedy like Downey and Paltrow do is endlessly entertaining.

I think both movie Spider-Man romances (sans SM3 in the Raimi case) are better. But that is unsurprising given the romantic nature of the character.

Gotta go with Steve and Peggy. They had absolutely wonderful chemistry, and that scene in TWS is such a punch to the gut. :csad:

In second place would be Tony and Pepper. It was consistent throughout all the films and loved the way they built on it more and more with each film. It's also kinda ironic that Tony Stark - the biggest playboy in all of comics - has had the longest consistent relationship in film (of all the superheroes). From IM2 to TA to IM3, that's three whole films :hehe:.

Third place would go to Bruce and Betty. I can't really explain it, but it really felt like they had a history together and really cared for one another. Also much like Steve and Peggy, there is an element of tragedy to their relationship, though not to the same extent.

Lack of Black Widow/Cap is...disturbing.

But of the MCU so far, Pepper and Tony is easily the best, and most developed, romance. I don't get the hype for Steve & Peggy, since its entire foundation is built around What Might Have Been instead of any actual intimacy beyond one or two quick kisses. They plugged more "relationship" into Natasha & Steve in just a few short hours in TWS than 70 years of the Peggy-Steve charade.

1. Tony and Pepper. They're relationship was built up well and you really bought that these were two people who had known each other/been close for years. Plus, RDJ and Paltrow had great chemistry and it was one of the most believable romances or any CBM movie that I've ever seen. IM 2 was kind of a misstep, but TA and IM 3 made up for it.

2. Steve and Peggy. They also had great chemistry and I really bought why these two would like each other. The only misstep in that movie was the "Peggy shooting the shield" scene, that shouldn't have been put in the movie.

3. Bruce/Betty. It wasn't a great romance and it wasn't developed much. However, I bought that these two people had known/cared about each other for a long time, mostly because of Norton and Tyler's performances. It was a case of the actors elevating some mediocre writing/material and making it better.

Ironically, Steve and Natasha in TWS had some of the best chemistry that I've ever seen in a CBM as well, and that wasn't even an actual romance.

well, the title of this thread is best romance, not best bromance. and since there was no romantic tension between cap and tasha at all, I understand why it was not included.
if we include this kind of platonic friendships I go with tony/rhodey, same thing.

What was wrong with Peggy shooting the shield?

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. :hehe:

Tony and Pepper because it is barely there and is not distracting. Is lighthearted. I happen to hate the romances in superhero movies.

I see them more as a Harry potter/hermione type relationship. They help each other and consider each other equals but they won't hook up

the Tony and Pepper relationship was essential to the movies. so i'll pick that one.

And that's just the problem. She's seen what a chivalrous, honorable man he is. She's seen how clueless he is around women. They have that whole "waiting for the right partner" thing going on. She trusted him enough to risk her career when she helped him go on that rescue mission. She's believed in him every step of the way. And then you've got this scene. She sees the kiss, and INSTANTLY assumes that the worst possible scenario is happening, without even giving him the opportunity to explain himself. She just instantly believes that he's a player now. And the she overreacts even more by shooting at him at close range with live ammo. And beyond that, she mocks/insults with the "who have no idea how to talk to women" line, despite the fact that she seemed to find that part of him kind of charming earlier in the movie. That scene completely contradicts her characterization for the entire rest of the film and it makes her look bad. And then it never gets brought up again and she goes back to trusting him wholeheartedly not five minutes later, so the scene was pointless as well. Basically, they undermine her character for the sake of a quick/cheap gag, and that's not fair to her. I didn't like it.

Pepper and Tony
Bruce and Betty

Cap and Peggy really didn't have a romance until that last kiss. Had he survived the crash, then it would've been a different story.

Thor and Jane just seemed off or forced for some reason.

seems reasonable enough for fiction.

Steve Rogers / Sam Wilson. Crazy chemistry between those two.
