Best Superhero Movie of 2014

X-Men DOFP takes the top spot for me, Amazing Spider-Man 2 was just average and comes in second. While CA: The Winter Soldier was a nice film it hasn't sold me on Cap as being on par with SM and X-Men so that's why it's third on my list.

Like another poster said before, Robocop may have taken it's inspiration from comic books it's not a superhero movie.

Poll is encouraging. I do believe Dofp is the superior film. I think when people first saw the winter soldier, most just assumed nothing would be able to match it. It Just happened to be wrong.

and this from someone who grew up reading only x-titles, was super excited when the original movies were announced, and still counts X2 among his top 5 cbm's

just thought Cap was more thoughtful, action scenes were better, and acting was more consistently solid

Both Winter Soldier and DOFP were great films, and I liked both for different reasons. I'm just thankful we all were given the movies we deserved for those two characters

I am 1 of those 5 lol. I don't understand any of the complaints about the movie I just don't see them at all. The action was great and the music and the realationships and I felt more of a conection with the charaters then I did with any of the charters in the other 2 movies. I don't see how the movie was chessy the only chessy thing where max talking to him self in his apartment and the light my candles line that is it. I didn't relize that 2 sences make a movie chessy and sm 1-3 where 100 times has chessy yet now complaints about it form people in those movies I just don't get it. I don't get the story being slopy thing ether felt like the movie had good pacing and when it needed to be dark it was and when it needed to be lighter it was. I like all 3 but asm2 is my favorite captian America 2 is my least favorite of the 3. I have asm2 has my 4th favorite CBM ever and almost 3erd. I have Xmen DOFP at 6 and captain America at 7.

TWS for sure; most tightly made, focused of the bunch. DOFP was solid too, though.

Pulling for GOTG to join the ranks; I think it'll appeal to my tastes very closely if executed the way I'm hoping it will be.

I wonder how GOTG will do has people think asm2 was chessy while GOTG makes asm2 look like a very very dark movie in conparsion has it looks way way more chessey.

It's campy, and it's setting out to be just that. Done right, like Scott Pilgrim (though not to that degree), it'll deliver to its audience. One who considers ASM2 to be cheesy would probably cite cliches, melodrama, and lame gags creating tonal inconsistencies as the reason.

I'm curious what the 3 you have before ASM 2.

Also, then why do you think it's not as well received as it probably should have?

Cheese wasn't the movie's problem. Poor plotting, characters, and story were.

Captain America The Winter Soldier but Days Of Future Past is really, really close. I've been immensely satisfied with both films.

ASM2 on the other hand ... well I guess you can't win everytime.

Totally agree with this. Marvel certainly produced a much higher standard of film this year compared to their two offerings last year and I expect GoTG to be better than those as well.

I voted captain america 2,but i changed my mind.

I think the better movie abit more is new x-men movie,but for both movies i think i liked captain america abit more or the same level.

Hard to say for now but this could change down the road.

I voted for the Winter Soldier. I don't get what was so good about DOFP either. After all the great critical acclaim it got I was expecting something amazing when I saw it. Instead it was just a OK movie I don't think it was even as good as First Class or X2 which is still the best X-Men movie in my opinion. It has some terrific actors but the action scenes were just OK and the story was nothing special.

AMS 2 was crap. Critics were right on that.
