Best time you've had at a movie theater

Opening night...Attack of the Clones.

Not a great movie, but not without a few great moments, either.

There is something to be said for audience participation, and this was one such night. It was feckin' crazy.

I've never seen a movie in an atmosphere like that...in a room full of die-hard fans who want to enjoy themselves above all else. And they did.

A room-wide cheer broke out when the lights dimmed and the opening scrawl started, and the bastards never let up.

The highlight was the Yoda-Dooku fight. As soon as Yoda Force-grabbed his lightsaber from his belt, the place went friggin bonkers, and after that, it was chaos. You couldn't hear a damn thing over the cheers, and you couldn't even see the screen unless you stood up.

I know it's very cliche to say, but it felt electric. Those of you who've been to a really good concert by your favorite band know what that's like.

That's one of the very few times I've experienced something like that, and while I wish it would have been a better movie, I'll carry the memories of that night straight to the grave.

'twas awesome.

Pirates of the Carribean : The Curse of the Black Pearl - There was not a lot of hype on it going in . I went on opening day being a Johnny Depp devotee and was so happy at the end .First time we see Captain Jack sailing into port with his ship leaking I knew it would be huge. I remember it getting a lot of laughs and the audience clapping afterward . I got so many friends and co workers to see it also most loved it.

Chicago - The three times I saw it all audiences were really into it high energy movie.

Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith - I usually wait till the first mantinee showing for big event movies not this one it was the last SW movie and I knew I was going to be at the midnight showing . It was great . I most remember the lightsaber fights after ward , people were imitating the Obi-wan / Vader fight at the end so much geekdom.

Fellowship of the Ring- I saw it in April '02. I was the only person in the theater.

to be honest it was seeing the first ever harry potter film. I look forward to these everytime.:marv:

Best Times :

Matrix Reloaded :
Never had and since have seen a crowd so packed. I can still , after 3 years , point out the exact same seat where i sat down in my cinema. The publi applauded when the familair music started. 4 frikkin year wait finally over. The agent fight in the opening with neo jumping in the air and kicking and agent in the face ,all in slomo. That drew some loud "WHOAH's and COOL's " up front. And after the burly brawl everybody starting clapping.
Freeway chase same response with some guys even getting up for a standing ovation.

Matrix revolutions : The end. Same packed crowd.
The superbrawl with the biggest hit of neo sending that massive shockwave over the megacity. Everybody , when picking their jaws up screamed COOL !!!!!!!!!! and FCKING HELL !!!. And the superpunch. Now that was classic .

LOTR: FOTR
I still remember seeing it on my britday . Damn that opening sequence with the choir. My jaw hit the floor.
Same with the Balrog , who 's appearance was soooo insanely cool , i had to see the movie again for 14 more times.

Seeing Alien and Aliens when they were rereleased at our local cinema.
Just watching a movie with geeks. It just brings out the best in you

Spiderman 2 :
We actually skipped JErsey Girl for this. And it's here where you see how a crowd can influence you're opinion. When i returned , i was extatic. Easily giving it a 9/10. Upon my second viewing it changed to a 7. The 3rd viewing left me sleeping in an IMAX theatre.
Ít's now hovering at a 6.5/10.

That's what I was kinda trying to hint at with my AOTC story but you did it better.

Batman Begins

I'd been living towards seeing this film for years and I was so nervous the day it came out. What if it doesn't live up to my expectations ? What if it bombs at the box office ?
When it finally got under way it became clear right away I had nothing to worry about and could just relax and be overwhelmed while it exceeded all my expectations.

in most cases, they were comedies: Old School, Wedding Crashers, 40 year old virgin.

I had a ball with The Ring as well. Great responses and I feed off of it, hense creating a fun enviorment. Something that DVD lacks: that social element.

With batman begins everyone was so quiet when they walked out, mostly probably due to the shock of everyone knowing that this guy saved the franchise with one swift remake so as to say "top this!"

But I walked out of that theater knowing this director means business.

I can honestly say that the best time I've ever had in a theater was when my friends and I went to go see "Crossroads" (yes, Crossroads, the Britney Spears movie) on opening night. The theater was packed and everyone was there for the exact same reason: to see how dumb it was going to be. We even brought our video camera and bootlegged some of it. (We didn't have enough battery power to get the whole thing :()

Memoirs of a Geisha, good movie, but the person sitting next to me was the reason it was so great......

That had to be when I went to go see The seed of Chucky (I think that was the name). My girlfriend and I were practically alone in the theater and well, we didn't see much of the movie.;)

so you paid 8 dollars to do what you could have done for free at home. Explain to me how this is good?

The midnight showing Stars Wars episode 3, the fans really make movies into experiences.

The midnight showing of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.

Best movie experience I've ever had.

X2 was my best experience...the entire audience was really into the movie and made for a great atmosphere.

POTC: DMC is close though, for the same reasons.
