Out of the superhero movies released so far this year, who do you think is the best villain and why?

I'm going with Zemo and that's kind of sad because while I liked him, he wasn't really anything special.

Zemo had the best characterization and performance, but he mostly wins by default since the others are so mediocre or bad. The conflicts between the heroes were more interesting in Civil War, as was meant to be. He was memorable as the catalyst for that conflict though, and he had some great scenes (sneaking in to brainwash Bucky, the ending reveal, the talk with T'Challa).

Ajax just isn't interesting/memorable enough to keep up in a film as packed with personality as Deadpool, Lex is an irritating joke, and Apocalypse was underwhelming and poorly written.

I actually really liked Zemo. Yeah, he's not exactly a carbon copy of the comics version, but he was still a good intelligent, manipulative baddie with believable motivations, an interesting plan (which succeeds), and he fits the larger theme of the film about the responsibilities of superheroes. Bruhl also gave by far the best performance of the four actors.

Apocalypse and Ajax were bland and boring, and Lex Luthor was a complete disaster on every level.

So Zemo, by a mile.

Zemo by far. He actually "won" too if you think about it.

Zemo has been the best. As mentioned, he did pretty much accomplish what he set out to do. Also, he was sympathetic, yet easy to hate. And the movie didn't even really focus on him much.

Apocalypse is 2nd place on my list so far, but he was a disappointment to me. And then Luthor was just embarrassing

I can't believe I'm saying this but Zemo was the best villain this year so far. His plane to get all the heroes to fight each other was genius however I still think they would have some type of Confrontation with each other anyway without Zemo.

Have to vote Apocalypse, he was a lot like the cartoon version who I used to love and I loved the fact that it took the whole team as well as some other power houses to take him down. His beliefs and personality was also consistent with the cartoon version.

I did like Zemo and Francis/Ajax as well, but Apoc stood out for me.

Zemo.

Ajax was fine.Apocalypse was a disappointment,I expected so much. Lex sucked.

Zemo wins it easily for me.

Ajax was fine but a bit bland, Apocalypse was cheesy and really boring, and Lex was a bad mess.

Zemo for me, though I really enjoyed Ajax as well. Lex was just an annoying goofball. Haven't seen Apocalypse yet.

Let us just say that Suicide Squad has some pretty easy competition to win this thread again in a few months.

This year isn't over yet. We still gotta wait for Baron Mordo and Letoker.

Lex was great

Zemo was meh, I didn't like what they did with him as far as changes from the comics but it was at least well-executed so it didn't bother me too much

Ajax was good but not too memorable either

Haven't seen Apocalypse yet - going on Thursday!

Zemo, easily, Daniel Bruhl brought humanity and purpose to this character, and at the end he achieved his goal which more than i can say about the rest.

I liked Ajax, he was weirdly likeable for me, a bit cliche but he made me laugh at times.

Apocalypse was dissapointing, so cliche and boring.

Lex was the greatest comedy relief ever, what a goofball, who said DC doesnt do comedy? Jesse was HILARIOUS, i lol'd so much at "DING DING DING" amazing comedy bit right there.

Apocalypse was funny too.

Storm: What are you doing?

Pooky: LLLLLLLLEEEEEEAAAAAAARRRRRRNNNNNNIIIIIIGGGGG.....

I couldnt help but laugh at his silly fat face, its so funny, but man, jar of piss is classic comedy.

Zemo wins. The competitiion is lacking, but that's not to discredit Bruhl's character who I thought was great, massively underrated and one of the MCU's best villains so far.

Never thought I'd see a mask less Zemo winning in a poll against Lex Luthor and Apocalypse. Lol

Apocalypse was the most comic accurate.

Zemo was the most successful. Not sure if Zemo was any less cliched than Apocalypse but at least his plan made sense.

Zemo. He was successful and better characterised. Apocalypse was a disappointment. Ajax was forgettable and lm not sure what Lex is.

Probably Apocalypse because he was the most memorable out of them. Ajax/Francis worked really well in Deadpool but wasn't a standout or anything. Zemo was your typical Marvel villain (not that interesting and his motives were clichéd at best) but all those 3 are still choices I can understand, but Lex Luthor was so terrible that it baffles me that he has votes.

Hey wait.

Aren't we forgetting someone?

Cap is a Hydra agent, you know.
