I have given it two weeks, but I don't like the new format.
I don't know if it will ever be as good as it was when it started, but it definitely has taken a step backwards under its new guise as "Best Week Ever with Paul F. Tompkins."
Like the "I love the ..." series, it had gotten a little too full of itself, but "Best Week Ever" never plummeted to the depths to which "I love the ..." has sunk. "I love the ..." is entirely "Oh, I remember ..." or people singing badly to some some of the year they are focusing on. Or sometimes four people sing at once. You never get any insight into the year. Or any laughs. That series has become unwatchable.
But "Best Week Ever" wasn't like that. The on-air people weren't as smug and it was much funnier.
Hoever, "Best Week Ever with Paul F. Tompkins" seems dated. It feels like what "Best Week Ever" could have been like before it got good. I enjoyed the different takes by different people. Some were funnier than others, but now it's one voice and it isn't as fun.
