Its the biggest match on the card, the true main event, so it should be for the WWE Championship! Can you imagine if Hogan Vs. Andre at WM III wasn't for the belt? That would've sucked!

You see the problem is that Andrea didn't leave for almost a decade and not wrestle. So the passing of the torch with title on the line was necessary. Rock has been gone for such a long time and Cena has established himself as THE GUY in the WWE. He doesn't need a rub from Rock and a title match at Wrestlemania. I don't think that we'll see a title match between the two, the only way it would work and not be predictable is if Rock won and stayed around for a while which I highly doubt. It would work for title if Rock was facing someone other than Cena sombody that hasn't firmly established himself as "the man" in the WWE. Cena vs Rock I think is the "dream match" people have wanted to see, that in itself is a draw no need to add title to the match.
Also to comment on your later post about Take/HBK not being a title match is also invalid. Taker/HBK are arguably two of the biggest stars to ever step foot into a WWE ring and a title wouldn't have mattered. HBK vs Taker was a big enough draw as it is, having the title out of the picture gave them opportunity for another "draw" traditional WWE Championship match.

The WWE Championship / World Heavyweight Title match should always...ALWAYS...go on last especially at Wrestlemania.

And yes, not having HBK Vs. Taker II for the belt was f'n dumb. It was HBK's last match and having Undertaker defend both the title and his streak in the same match would've been epic.

It would also have been pointless because Taker was also going on hiatus directly after, so we'd have had two guys fighting for a title that wont be there afterwards, which is also what makes having Rock/Cena be for the title stupid, because The Rock will be shooting Fast and the Furious 6 straight away following Mania.

What's really strange is how the 2012 Royal Rumble fits into this. If Bryan has already established he's going to have a WM title match, and the WWE has established that Cena vs. Rock will be a title match, then what is the winner of the Royal Rumble going to get? Will they even have the event at all then?

It's all part of the plan, Vince would never let something like that happen cuase he thinks long term. Maybe the plan is to have Punk lose and move on while Cena wins the rumble and asks for his shot early?

Meh, I don't like that scenario. It diminishes the credibility of the Rumble itself then. It's not such a big deal if the Rumble winner gets a match on Raw, or at the lower-profile PPV between the Rumble and WM.

They need to watch WM18 and learn from their mistake (ie don't have the rumoured Punk vs HHH for the title last)the last match should be Rock vs Cena,its bigger than the title.

Me neither but I'm not sure what else they are can do with the Royal Rumble if both title matches are accounted for unless they really pull out the ''our audience forgets things the second we stop showing replays or mentioning it'' card and just change what the winner of the Rumble gets. Either Cena doesn't have the title or Bryan cashes in early and someone from Smackdown wins the Rumble.

Or a heel wrestler could win the Rumble, and say he has the right to have a match against whoever wins the Bryan/world champion match or the Rock/Cena match (I prefer the former). Sounds like something ADR would try to pull.

I agree that Rock vs Cena doesn't need to be for the title. At the heart of their issues the WWE title isn't even a factor. Take the title out and would Rock and Cena still want to do battle? The answer is yes.

Even IF they have a championship match at WM28 the WWE title would still be secondary and thats still not good so it may as well be used to help draw somewhere else on the overall card.

a WWE title match on its won has some drawing power. Its smart business to have two top drawing matches instead of putting everything into just one that doesn't even need any more.

Boy this set sounds awesome. This sucker is a first day buy for me. Their doing it just like a hoped. Interesting that theres no overt mention of the Survivor Series screwjob in this listing. Ether the lead up and fallout or even the actual match itself.

I was hoping that it wouldn't be the major focus of this dvd but hopefully it gets talked about between both men in some capacity.

I can't remember it ever actually happening during the PPV but if two guys can win the Rumble and both get a shot at Wrestlemania I don't see why the winner won't get his shot next year.

But that makes me think of another instance of two set of rules. When Hart and Luger both won the Rumble obviously that was planned but I assume Batista and Cena going out at the same time was an accident and somebody called an audible. That a case where similar things happened with two different decisions by WWE.

The Rumble win itself is seeming less and less special every year to me though. Del Rio and Edge opening the ppv? The fact that the winner of the Rumble hasn't won the title at WrestleMania in years.

Gail Kim announced today that she quit WWE on Monday. We had heard for several weeks that she had been extremely unhappy and had been very vocal about it.

I think they want to bring in fresh talents. If TNA brings in more talents as good as Aries, I think it's the division will be fine.

It took the WWE long enough to start releaseing people.

Normally I would be thinking "they are saving money to bring Chris Jericho back" but the releases don't amount to much money to bring Jericho back (who I strongly believe will return to the WWE, but probably not until next year's Royal Rumble).

Gail Kim and Melina gone? Why do I think that they will not be the only divas gone? Both would make nice additions to the Knockouts in TNA though.

Didn't I say on Monday that Melina is one step away from being "future endeavored"? Now maybe Morrison can actually GET somewhere in the WWE...

Gail and Melina will both be in TNA within 90 days.. Bet on it. It's good for Gail, TNA is actually a decent place for female wrestlers I think. Most of them can put on a fairly entertaining match and Gail knows her way around the ring.

I guess we'll also see the return of the Melina splits...

I wonder though... How will this set with JoMo?
