Hopefully the film goes back to the roots of the first one. Eddie needs a hit movie badly (the Shrek films don't count).

Knowing Brett Ratner...it'll be a hip hop version. :cwink:

Somebody call Kanye!!! (I'm actually interested in what he'd do. I liked him and Jon Brion's version of the Mission: Impossible theme.)

I’d rather they didn’t at this point, but I suppose with his current position, money talks.

Beverly Hills Cop is like how many decades too long? They should have made this years ago

Apparently Dolemite is very good. The same director is doing Coming 2 America, and if that’s good, why the hell not?

BHC is a favorite series of mine, and for the longest time I've wanted a fourth film, but that want fizzled out a decade ago.

I want Murphy to make good films again, he once was amazing to watch, but I don't want to see him do so on the back of BHC.

I'll still probably watch, and own, it. If anything, hopefully this will lead to a proper stateside release of the trilogy on BD and not have to need to import them.

He also directed Hustle and Flow and Black Snake Moan.

I wonder how many people are upset that he is white?

All I know is Jay Pharoah better be cast as Axel's son.

I hope Axel has grown kids and that he has a grown son and a grown daughter

I hope Judge Reinhold returns. John Ashton might be too old but if he returns as well but retired that would be cool as well. Their back and forth banter with Murphy was a lot of what made those first two films so fun.

Beverly Hills Cop Axel Foley will come back to active duty…for Netflix. Paramount has made a one-time license deal — with an option for a sequel — that will enable Netflix to make the fourth installment of the film with Eddie Murphy and producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

I guess Paramount thinks this wouldn’t do well on the big screen. It’s the opposite of their hopes for the sequel to Coming to America.

Yes and no. Scorsese’s newest has gotten the best reviews for him in years and it’s on Netflix. All comes down to who they get to direct for me.

Coming to America has more big screen appeal to me than Beverly Hills Cop. It’s legacy hasn’t been tainted by bad sequels and its aesthetic can rival Black Panther minus the more futuristic stuff.

Yeah, it definitely shows that Paramount doesn’t have as much faith in it financially as they do Coming to America 2 otherwise they wouldn’t be doing this.

I don't blame them. They get money up front and Netflix takes the risk.

Smart move because it likely would have performed like a franchise that ran out of steam 25 years ago. Like Terminator.

Smart move on Paramount's part. They can't afford to be burned again.

Beverly Hills Cop 4 directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah have offered an update on the planned Netflix sequel.

The Bad Boys for Life directors actually signed onto the movie before they joined the Bad Boys threequel, but while that movie has been released, there's still no sign of the fourth Beverly Hills Cop movie.

"We're still involved in that project, and there's a screenwriter now on it that's going to try to write a first draft, or a first treatment at least with the story," confirmed El Arbi.

"So we're going to see what the first version will be, but we're very excited and hope that we can work with another icon like Eddie Murphy. That'd be great."

Beverly Hills Cop 4 Directors Update Status, Tease Bad Boys Crossover

Beverly Hills Cop 4 is coming together at Netflix. The film is expected to release next year but such a placeholder means little in a year where delays and productionshutdowns have run rampant throughout Hollywood due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, the show is going on for the creatives behind-the-scenes which will be bringing together a story for Eddie Murphy to reprise the role of Axel Foley with the directors of Bad Boys For Life at the helm. Adil El Abi and Bilall Fallah, a duo which promises they are "living a fanboy's dream," enthusiastically looking forward to directing the film and have ideas of their own for an epic crossover with their most recent endeavor.

"There's a screenwriter who's writing a screenplay now at this point," El Arbi says. "So yeah, we're waiting for first draft and see what happens then." The screenwriters for the film, André Nemec and Josh Appelbaum have a range of credits to their names, including titles ranging from Mission: Impossible to Ninja Turtles films. If the film is anything like El Arbi and Fallah's efforts on Bad Boys For Life, it should be a respectful homage to previously great works which also builds the franchise into a whole new directions.

While there are no concrete plans for El Arbi and Fallah to return on a fourth Bad Boys movie, they do love the idea of crossing over the two properties. When asked which character they would love to see Will Smith's Mike Lowrey and Martin Lawrence's Marcus Burnett crossover with, they simultaneously spout, "Axel Foley!"

"Axel Foley, we thought about that already!" Fallah says, and it doesn't seem too far outside of the realm of possibilities. "Because it would be cool if there's like really Beverly Hills Cop and Bad Boys together in the same universe because it's the Jerry Bruckheimer universe, so." Bruckheimer is a producer on both franchises.
